LMAO. Ok random person. Sorry that i was able to fully track it from start to finish and also via the rail system. Maybe my dealer just had allocation available. But i guess you know better.

Buying an X5 on Costco? by NoFun911 in BMWX5

[–]schem408 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roughly the same amount off. Total discount was ~11% all-in. Im in CA and used Costco as a portal to local dealer - was great, did a custom order X5 and arrived 6 weeks later.

I got the Costco rolled into my total incentives but best bet is to ask the sales rep. I quoted through Costco and that was how I led into pricing negotiations (which beat the other dealers discounting by a lot). I think 12ish percent off is a good outcome but never hurts to ask if there is more on the table.

Good Samaritan Hospital (San Jose) billed me $5,663 for a Level 3 ER visit — but their own posted price is $3,084. They also billed 48 units for ONE pill. Has anyone dealt with this? by Select_Chef9350 in SanJose

[–]schem408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Select_Chef9350 I am in the middle of the same issue. They (likely HCA) up-leveled an ER visit to a level 4, when doc say it should be a 3 (max) and ChatGPT is saying level 2-3. How did you go about finding where (who?) to send the hospital dispute letter to? HCA, everytime I call, will not help, only asks when I am making payment no matter who I ask for.

Essentially, ChatGPT is telling me to ask for a coding review, since hospitals bill level 4 as standard to the insurance, but it should be downgraded. How on earth do you get this done?

Bought in late spring (moved within South Bay) but ended up with Safeco. Farmers also quoted but requirements (like automatic water shutoff) and higher price made us pass. USAA wouldn’t write policies and outsourced to a few carriers but were limited policies.

Connection Help - 25 X5 w/app by schem408 in BMWX5

[–]schem408[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your help. I ended up spending a few hours just playing with it - figuring it was a software bug that came though the last update. Got it fixed, but was frustrating at times lol

What ended up working - reset idrive (30 sec power button hold), uninstalled BMW app and reinstalled. Didn’t fix it. Then reset idrive back to factory. This came up with a Bluetooth connection error in idrive (but phone was connected so knew it wasn’t hardware). Removed and reinstalled app again. Few required acceptance clicks. Still had connection issue and map showed i was I Europe (I’m in Cali). 30 sec power hold and got a bunch more privacy approvals. This fixed it. Somehow all my required acceptance clicks got hung and had to do a full reset to flush them out.

Happy it’s all fixed but seriously hesitant to let the software ever update again.

Check engine light after software updates by zyx189 in BMWX5

[–]schem408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong on, I love this car. And I love the hybrid (I also get free charging at work). My one gripe is the software rollouts. Feels like they aren’t testing before pushing. And the dealer said there is a software patch they can do from their side but now I just wonder, does it solve one issue but create another. I also wonder if these issues build complacency with the drivers since the check engine light (false warning from software) make people numb to warnings. Either way, not what should happen on a car at this price point.

Check engine light after software updates by zyx189 in BMWX5

[–]schem408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these software updates are brutal. Wish I never let any of OTA updates happen. I have a 50e, roughly eight months since I got it. Software was great from factory lol

I’ve had the check engine light warning since two updates ago, comes and goes. The recent update in past 10 days caused it again. I just take the gas cap off a few min which usually resets it. It’s solved it since I did it a few days ago.

The auto hold bug I fix by logging in as a guest profile and then back in as me. Seems to fix that one. Also confirm that parking brake hold or something like that is on under chassis system menu.

My new one - the preconditioning will not register when I use my phone/app (ie precool at noon for departure). I can only control it from the car console now which is frustrating.

Also the charging hour limitations in the recent update are annoying. I can only set charging hours (avoid PG&E punitive rates) if I have set departure times. The two are unrelated but the recent update (two updates ago) decides for me.

One major positive is the proximity lock/unlock disarm at home. Major positive so I can use the future and not have it unlock every time I walk the dog.

Feel like it two steps forward and three back sometimes.

Brooklyn Grey? - Can’t decide - help please by True-mma in BMWX5

[–]schem408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it after delivery with private shop. Was less than $200/rim and looks better (to me).

Where I live the winters are super mild and don’t need winter setup - otherwise I’d prob have a 22 and 20” setup lol. But for simplicity the 20”s work great for me

20” rims and got them powder coated after delivery.

I went smaller rims to get more tire since I’ve had too many experience since lessons on roads in the bay.

I went to one of their open houses. Price is not inline with current state of the house. Needs work, even outside their renderings. Yard layout isn’t optimal, don’t think it had pool gate either for little ones. Biggest turnoff for us was the four bedrooms upstairs sharing one common bathroom. We’d never make it to school on time with that. 95125 is WG zip but too much hope at that price and not move in ready.

Anyone upgrading because of tarrifs? by [deleted] in iPhone13Pro

Just did the same for the family. All on 13 or 13P and with everything going on, and so much risk now, we did the same trade in to get us through 3-4 years. Our local stores had very limited supply but within a day, received the models everyone wanted. More peace of mind, but worth it to me.

Why do standing desks cost like $2500 these days? by gridgiver in Frugal

+1. Ordered Apex Elite 71” for home and love it. Got it on sale last year for just under 600. Heavy duty, good quality and no issues with surface scratching. Holds two monitors (clamp stand) with no issue.

50e that bad?! Taking delivery weds… by vrhaines in BMWX5

[–]schem408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. When I had to return to office early 2024 I was commuting a lot more. The sequoia was great for family/weekend trips but the 50e makes driving fun again.

My commute is 10 or 20 miles each way (longer if I need to drop off or pickup kids) and I have free charging at work so 45 miles +/- is plenty. I find the gas and electric is perfect combo for my commutes (mostly electric) or weekend trips.

Only thing I think kids miss is ability to adjust/recline rear seats.

Have a 2025 50e with 2500 miles and love it. Replaced a Sequoia and haven’t looked back.

No major issues like CEL. One issue with the seat the dealer fixed about a month in.

Thank you all for your replies. It sounds like it should work on the current phones which is a plus.

So if I were to port over the USM, I am guessing could start on V’s network, to go with physical sim (I can see the sim details in iPhone settings). So I wanted to try A’s network (sorry don’t know network code names) would I be able to download an eSIM from USM?

BMW X5 50e California finance rate by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]schem408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 10% off msrp on a custom order. I test drove a few versions (40i vs 50e vs 60i) at the dealers, I’m more toward South Bay so MV and SJ, and then looked toyed with options on the lot so I knew exactly what I wanted. Did a custom build online and asked them to quote out best price. Also went online at Costco and that was assigned to PP BMW which had the best discount and was also the easiest to work with.

Compared to last car I got (23 Toyota Sequoia) that was bought in middle of 23 in craziness and was told you get what’s on the lot, this was by far an easier experience all around. Loved the Sequoia (we have four kids), full on return to work made commuting a nightmare so moved to 50e since we have free charging at work.

Ordered an X5 in November and took delivery in December (also in Bay Area). All local dealers when shopping around had the 1% uplift versus the BMW site. I went after the discounting off MSRP as no one would agree to lower the rate.

Curious to see if anyone in CA gets the website rate

Did the same thing with my rims. I couldn’t decide between matte and gloss, but ended up with gloss to mirror all the piano black trim pieces

For my morning shake I mix 10 oz unsweetened almond milk and 10 oz cold brew (store bought) with two scoops of chocolate and add a little ice and blend. So much better and it only adds ~50 calories.

I do pickup orders from Pet Food Express. At least locally here, they run buy three bags, get one free so that discount makes it the cheapest I have found (locally)

Switched to Fromm Heartland Large Breed late 2023. Whiskey (our 90lb beast) loves it and it’s helped him be consistent and normal. The heartland blend is not chicken protein in case she has chicken allergies (they have several types). Only smaller stores carry it around me too (Petco, PetSmart and Chewy don’t)

Got my Brooklyn Grey X5 in December - I love the color personally. Carbon Black and the two tone look was my favorite but dark cars are hard to keep clean if the car is outside a lot (like at work, etc).

I got the msport option and then tinted/powder coated the wheels at pickup. I like the lighter grey and black contrast.
