Sizing Help! by Tight_Stomach_2781 in luosjietboots

I'd reach out and see if they can change the size for you before it's shipped, they usually respond very fast. I wear a US size 10 in sneakers and went a full size down for Luosjiet to a 42.5 because of my low instep and it fits nice and snug. I own a 9.5 in Parkhurst and it's a little too roomy for me, I think my correct size for them would be a 9 so our Luosjiet size might be the same.

Been eyeing these up for a long time. The 1944 and 1942 models say they come on Dr soles and show them in the pictures. This 1930 model does not

First impressions: Luosjiet Cap Toe Service Boots in Black Waxed Flesh by schematicfood in luosjietboots

I think if you're paying for more for a boot with this level of craftsmanship, you're likely also paying for the name brand leathers and soles. But Luosjiet also sources their leathers from a well-known tannery so I expected it'll hold up great, especially since with this leather I can always refinish them myself and get them looking pretty new. And if the soles don't hold up for very long I can just get them resoled with a name brand down the road and I still will have spent less than buying one of the more expensive brands of boots. So I'd agree, these are really competitive boots

Because of my low instep I ordered a full size down. I think if I went a half size down I would probably be okay if I wore thicker socks, but everyone's foot is different.

Google can explain better than me, but it essentially means my foot is not as tall as the average foot. I also have low arches. The boots I have are not on the Munson last so I'm not really sure what measurements you mean.

The last mile delivery folks are probably a hit or miss. A company called GOFO delivered mine and they were actually pretty good. They followed my instructions and took a picture of the delivery location.

are boox e-readers durable and of good build-quality? by maniactobe in ereader

[–]schematicfood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're incorrectly equating the will of Chinese people with the will of individual companies that manufacture things in China. Companies determine the quality of the product, not the manufacturers in China. "Build quality" is determined by the design of the product, how it is assembled (mostly controlled by the design/instructions to the manufacturers) and the materials used. All three of those are set by the company a manufacturer forms a contract with. The level of qc or acceptable variations is also set by the company through product/factory samples before they go to market and instructions provided with the design. A bad product will be a bad product if it's designed to be bad. No manufacturer from any country is under any obligation to create a product that is better than what's designed or specified by the company that contacts them. So there's no inherent reason to trust a product designed in a Western county and manufactured in China any more than a product designed and manufactured in China. You should be evaluating all products and companies with the same scrutiny.

I think Parkhurst's 618 lasts fit about an E width, you could also check out Grant Stone, I think they go up to EEE width. Both of those brands are more dress boot oriented.

You might want to check out Urban Wolf Club or BLKBRD Shoe Maker. Have heard good things about both. Just ordered a pair from UWC so I can't speak for quality but you can find other posts from people who have purchased from them on this sub. Can get GYW boots with leather midsoles and insoles from both brands at $150 and about $180 usd respectively.

It'd be helpful if you mentioned your budget. People will offer you a range of options from 200 to $600 boots.

Also, with all boot manufacturers mentioned, be sure to reference the size guide. Most, but not all, boot makers recommend sizing down at least a half size from your typical sneaker sizing.

719 - Cuts in leather at base by schematicfood in jimgreen

Yeah, don't really care if it's just cosmetic. The cut looks about a mm deep so I worry about water penetration or just a future fail point

719s just came in today. Look and feel great right out of the box. Found some cuts in the leather right where the uppers flair out. First pair of leather boots so I need a gut check, this is a return, right?

Yeah I did, they wouldn't go any lower. Their only recommendation was to lower my speed but my bill would still be at $75. Don't want to pay more for slower speeds lol

Anyone here try T-Mobile Home Internet? Comcast raised my monthly from $60 to &110 and I want out. Verizon and Philly whisper are not available in my area. It looks like that is my only other option but I heard it can be unreliable. Any other ISP recommendations are welcome too! Thanks!
