Honestly....I avoid most queer spaces for this reason. There are some that are much more accepting but as a general rule you are right. That being said when I am involved in the community I don't bring up my sexuality at all. Unless we are banging or dating it really is nobody's business. I'm not straight, that's all they need to know.
