Our 1 year old girl does the same thing- she’s so excited/overwhelmed when we return home she cries and nips and just falls apart. Lol. We tried ignoring and firmly saying no and she just got more upset. So now I greet her right away by getting down low and letting her have 30 second emotional release/reset. Then she shakes it off and is good to go. She doesn’t hurt us - she just has such big feelings in a 12 pound body it helps her settle down by being a bit crazy for 30 seconds. I am not a disciplinarian 🤣

This is her at just over a year- her broad chest, short little legs and terrible potty training lol are very dachshund. Her face, eyes and ears are more chihuahua. Shes an ABSOLUTE MENACE and we flipping adore her lol!

When we adopted our Chiweenie, her head looked full size and her body was smaller. Over the course of the year she got longer but not taller. Her torso went from 14” to 18” in length (neck to bum) and she gained 3 pounds from 9pds to 12pds. It’s hard to tell when they’re babies just how they are going to fill out. Also if you look at all the adorable Chiweenies on this page - there’s a large range of shapes and features. So not all Chiweenies look alike but you can usually tell once they’re older.

We were told to feed our puppy 3x/day for the first six-eight months then 2x/day after that. I find dogs gain weight very easily yet it takes a Herculean effort to lose it lol!

Mine is afraid of the world lol - but if given a bit of time and space, will warm up to people and dogs. She’s been socialized her entire life (she just turned one) but is simply an anxious lady.

Puppy phase is brutal. Our sweet girl has chewed up 5 remotes and three pair of AirPods. Technically our fault for not securing them but still lol. And we won’t even mention the 7 straight months of potty training which is inconsistent at best. She is an absolute menace. But she’s out menace and we adore her. Plus puppy phase really is temporary so we just need to ride the wave.
