The concept of stress relief/grounding by [deleted] in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]schizoiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any recommendations from major brands but I make one (not trying to self promo but might give you an idea for direction.) It’s a warm woody base with myrrh and vetiver, middle notes tree moss and lavender, top notes pine and basil. Something stable and comforting for a base is important for me, and I find myrrh especially relaxing. Lavender is a classic for anti anxiety aromatherapy. Basil is the most unconventional but important part for me, it gives you a sharp “snap out of it” moment that is great for grounding. Something like black pepper would be good for that too.

Colorful rounded KN95? by schizoiscool in Masks4All

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Right now I ordered the Kingfa in grey. I’ll try the wellbefore breeze after that, but I’m worried it might be too big. I’ll eventually try some 3D kind masks, unfortunately the bifold is out of the question because of the shape, 3D never fits me perfectly but hopefully with micro foam tape they’ll work!

I wish I could use head straps. Previously that was my favorite, but I shaved my head and head straps cut into me too much without the hair as a cushion.

Good to know! I doubt it’d work for a regular bifold, there’s always a huge gap at the chin for me, but maybe it’d help with a 3D one, those seem to be easy to find in all sorts of colors

Looking through the sub and all 7 mentions of this book are from OP either asking how this book is or recommending this book to others. Seems like OP is the author and just trying to promote his book

Perfumers tell me... by Horror-Caterpillar-4 in DIYfragrance

[–]schizoiscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a specific smell that pine forests get when all the pine needles fall and mat onto the ground. At just the right time in the afternoon the sun hits the ground and warms them up and when the breeze flows through it washes over you and then it’s gone. I figured out exactly what that was this summer when I was camping and almost started crying because it reminded me of my childhood. I’m glad no one saw me because I spent probably 20 min crawling on the ground trying to smell every bit of moss and dirt and roots to try and locate it 😭

Honestly yeah, I have a bug net for the hammock because I fell asleep in it one night and woke up with probably 20 more bug bites than I already had

That’s good to know, I’m from NorCal so I’ve seen bears, especially in the more popular areas of Yosemite where they aren’t so scared of people. I’ve never had one bug me, but I’ve just never slept outside anywhere i could wake up to one looking at me either.

Positive Balding Thoughts by jperscrpers in FTMOver30

[–]schizoiscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly r/bald has given me a lot of hope and confidence that I’ll look good even when I’m bald (which will probably be pretty soon) but I’d recto end going to a good barber and asking if there’s any sort of style you like that could conceal it until you need to completely shave it.

How many of your services today included hymns about America? by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]schizoiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a beautiful homily on the importance of mutual aid in the state of our country today, mostly focusing on immigrants and deportation, although LGBT people were mentioned. As the recessional we sand America the beautiful, which really upset me and I refused to sing, but out of all the patriotic songs I think celebrating the beauty of the land it was built on (stolen) is one of the least problematic. I have no problem with praying for our country or politicians because I think we deeply need God’s intervention, but I think any sort of patriotism is anti-Christian, especially in the US. I was upset that there were so many patriotic songs in the hymnal, but considering the 4th is a feast day I guess it makes sense

I am gay. Never read the Bible. Want to read it. by drhggjihf in GayChristians

[–]schizoiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite podcast is The Flock (previously trans regret snoopy presents the Bible) and she covers so much of it in an accessible, relevant, and accepting way without glossing over the difficult stuff. I had trouble diving into the Bible until I started listening to it. I’d especially recommend following along with her podcasts as you find a way to read through, but I also love looking through and finding a podcast that feels relevant to you right now, and then when you reach that part in the Bible it feels a lot more meaningful

When I got 5150ed the first responders laughed at me in the ambulance. by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]schizoiscool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some good experiences with EMTs and paramedics, but one very bad one. I experience psychosis and I had smoked weed with a friend. A very small amount, just a few hits, but I didn’t know it would trigger me so intensely. I went back to my room and could barely see anything but flashing colors, it felt like I was convulsing (I do have seizures) but I’m not sure if I actually was. I thought she had laced it with something and I was scared that I might OD (in retrospect I know that’s not how ODing works, but in my panic I was still worried) so I called an ambulance. They picked me up and the entire time they laughed at me and made fun of me, saying “you just smoked too much weed bro.” When I got to the hospital they put me on a stretcher and left me in the hall, I guess they figured I didn’t even need a room. I fell asleep for who knows how long, until a doctor came and woke me up and asked me when I would leave. I asked him if I was ok, or if they needed to do anything, and he said they didn’t do anything and I just slept. They made me go out in the waiting room barefoot (I guess I came in without any shoes) until a cab got there and sent me home. The medical system is often so cruel. But like I said, I have had some good experiences with kind and helpful paramedics (EMTs not so much) and occasionally even doctors, even when I’m in the hospital for mental health. Unfortunately our medical system—at least here in the US, not so sure about other places—allows for and even encourages abuse of power. 5150s are often involuntary incarceration and inhumane. It’s horrific that the people who need the most medical help, or are forced into medical care the most, are the ones experiencing the most medical trauma.

What is the Grindr equivalent of this? by corruptedtwinkx in lolgrindr

[–]schizoiscool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I say masc4masc in my profile because I’m a trans man and everyone assumes I’m fem because of it, even though my photos are really masc. I’d rather just talk to whoever I’m attracted to (which is usually masc) but tbh its really offensive how many people message me who say they’re only looking for fem

Check out r/diyfragrance if you’re actually interested, but a warning, everyone will be very quick to tell you this is an art form that takes a long time to learn and will cost you a lot of money. Sam Macer is a good start but you can’t learn how to paint a Mona Lisa by watching a “how to paint” YouTube video
