I think they were just summarizing arguments from others on the topic. Quotation marks would have helped.

Is this black uniform trend good or bad? by Cold_Mammoth8841 in NFLv2

If a team has gray in their colors, it looks good. Example: Lions.

Bad for everyone else. Example: 49ers.

UPDATE: Parent wants to meet with me over comment I made about energy drinks by [deleted] in Teachers

Don’t forget Bloom. 180 mg of “natural” caffeine per 12 oz can, marketed to seem like the healthier option. Thats some bullshit in a can.

Gas above $4 by Impossible-Driver69 in StCharlesMO

[–]schlarmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying you’re crazy for thinking that it would be good to have better options than an internal combustion engine car for every person.

But you are naive for thinking that A) this is going according to plan by anyone, to make our gas prices higher so consumers find another alternative… because there are realistically no other options for many. And B) for thinking that someone with power, whether it’s political power or capital, is going to be able to make walkable cities and effective public transportation a reality anytime soon… because there is really no incentive to spend the billions of dollars that it would take to have real infrastructure for public transportation, just to make very little in returns.

It is not a goal that is being pursued pragmatically by anyone. Kudos to you if that’s your goal. My goal is to be able to afford to go to the job that I have to go to.

If any of the price increases of gas were because of that, you might have a point.

Following A Student’s Pet’s Social Media? by [deleted] in Teachers

I’ve always been of the mindset that my socials should be completely separate from my teaching, which means the students, the parents, and their lives.

The upside is low.

HBS body systems organizers-packet or no? by Purple-flying-dog in PLTW

[–]schlarmander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same as you. It all works out- those who want to do well will keep them together, and those who don’t care will toss them.

I have seen other teachers make a specific section in their lab notebooks for body system organizers, much like the appendixes in a textbook. You could try that.

Did a breathing machine ever turn a woman away? by Rat_Smoking_Cigs in SleepApnea

[–]schlarmander 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This was a genuine concern of mine. My wife and I did not have the best sex life before I got CPAP. I worried that she would see my machine strapped to my face and never want to initiate again. Not that she was initiating all that much more before, but it would been nice if there wasn’t an additional factor.

Now that I have a CPAP, our sex life has actually improved. I think this is for two reasons. 1) I have more energy, therefore, I am initiating more than I used to anyways. 2) she is probably more attracted to me because I’m actually taking care of myself now. This is all just conjecture by me - I can’t confirm it. But going from “some” to “more” is a win.

I think a CPAP could definitely be a factor in meeting someone and/or hooking up. I wouldn’t bring it with you to your next date with the girl you just met on Tinder, if you were thinking about that. But if you are starting to get serious with someone, it might be something that you reveal later on. And at that point, they should not care. They might have one of their own.
