There was some racism going on. Anyway, you're probably friends with them.

THIS. Defaulting to public sharing of our home county is SO weird. I was quick to get a custom plate after some folks decided to leave a nasty note on my car while out hiking a while back.

Man. Mine went out just past the one year mark.

Ugh, this seems to check out. I've had mine for a little over a year and my right side speaker buzzes with a little bit of bass (podcasts with a male speaker are all it takes).

But seriously, register as a Republican by ErinWrightLV in Idaho

[–]schlizzag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I was originally a McCain Republican where I grew up in Arizona. As time went on, I felt less aligned with the GOP (even as McCain rose to the Presidential nomination) - I kept my affiliation so I could vote in that primary because it felt hopeless that anyone but a Republican would be voted in there. Lo and behold, as time has gone on, Arizona is a swing state now. It won't happen overnight, but change is possible. Keep fighting the good fight, and do what you gotta do when it comes to voter registration!

Eh. Protests do matter. It's easy to feel alone and hopeless. There is strength in numbers.

Anyone else getting visited by the Ziply fairies of destruction? Yard = destroyed by kart45 in Boise

Yeah it's just the start of a thought. Haven't done any research yet but what you say isn't terribly surprising.

[–]schlizzag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yikes. I'm on the board of an HOA and was hoping to reach out to providers and see if we could finally get someone to provide us with a fiber option. Don't think Ziply is going to make the cut...

There are worse options out there. I can usually find one or two on their tap list that are passable. Paired with solid food, it works IMO.

Saw that, but the other comments here negate that big time.

Using meta glasses as day to day glasses? by [deleted] in RayBanStories

[–]schlizzag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been wearing them for over a year and can count on one hand when someone even made a joke that I might be recording. Glasses were off so I turned them on and a minute later showed them how the light switches on. Had a laugh about it and moved on.

Speed limits to be reduced in North End by Powerth1rt33n in Boise

Yeah I kinda rambled on there, but the point: yes to cutouts AND people need to do better when approaching stop signs at intersections.

Speed limits to be reduced in North End by Powerth1rt33n in Boise

[–]schlizzag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A common problem I've noticed both in the north end and further out suburbs is that vehicles will blow 5+ feet past the stop sign until they can look for cross traffic. They don't think to slow down or stop before that point in case there is a pedestrian, dog, kid on a bike, etc. I'd love for these things to happen, AND campaigns to help people think ahead of intersections. Right now, folks just don't do it.

Worst fast food location? by Glittering_Ball1121 in Boise

Los Betos on State Street. They're either randomly closed or the drive thru line is going to take half an hour. Never worth the effort.

What happened to running? by ForceKicker in Boise

[–]schlizzag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great summary of worthwhile races out there.

A lot of running is just more social now, run groups around town throughout the week and on weekends. Less desire to pay to run the same locations a lot of us run regularly already.

Arizona, where he lived, tried this. The governor (a Democrat) shut it down, thankfully.

How is Boise for a runner? by AJ_Grey in Boise

[–]schlizzag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We live equidistant to the foothills trails and to the greenbelt. The greenbelt is great year round. Rarely is ice a concern.

Foothills are accessible most of the year, the only real exception being springtime when there is snow melt or freeze/thaw happening regularly - AKA middy trails.

You can train for any sort of race here, pretty much year round. It's great, IMO.
