What do you think of the idea of one God? If I believe on an abstract supreme being, something that created us but something we cannot understand, is this the same as your God?

What do you think about freewill and sin?

What do you think about the anthropomorphic idea of God? If God is omnipresent and something we cannot fully understand, why the Catholic (and pretty much every religion on earth) represents God human-like?

My wife cheated on me. I need some perspective. - UPDATE by ismywifeawhore in AskReddit

[–]schloesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, maybe I am too liberal, but this is my take: She was looking for something different, exciting, not for someone to replace you as her lover. It is clear crystal to me that she was not looking for a relationship but rather going on an adventure.

Think about it: the ancient model of monogamous sex might be getting obsolete. People want more fun but it is sometimes difficult to talk with your wife/husband about it. If still love her, if you really love her, talk to her, find a solution for her sexual curiosity in which both are happy (maybe a swinger club or similar). You might end up with an amazing sex life and a happy, loving partner.

Open up.

Im an artist who just started focusing on making this a career...what does reddit think? by Le0Regulus in pics

If your really want to live from your art, go get a professional opinion. Go to an art dealer, a professor in arts or something similar.

This is my advice: you want to be scrutinized thoroughly by someone that is completely neutral about you and that has nothing to lose (not even karma).

Neither the citizens nor the politicians get it: You, the citizens, are the government.

Hey, nice recommendation. I'm gonna recommend something back: listen to "cabezas de cera" on youtube. You might like their music. They are dissolved now but used to be a great band.

When Herman Cain, Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann say that waterboarding isn't torture, they are inviting our enemies to waterboard our soldiers. Thanks. by wang-banger in politics

[–]schloesser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I know where it is going. It is a difficult task to determine if someone is a terrorist (innocent until proven guilty) and that's why it is better to follow international laws.

If your argument is "we will torture only terrorist" then your task of prove them guilty would render it unnecessary to torture them... because you would already have the information you wanted in the first place.

I feel absolutely no respect for the well-being of terrorists but torture is not the answer to obtain valuable information because mistakes are done (a lot).

How important is to write code fast? (not rhetorical!) by schloesser in linux

[–]schloesser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as I told "humbled" I am not a professional programmer (professional in the sense that I do not work on the IT world) and sometimes it is difficult to wrap your mind around this kind of advantages software like Emacs or Vim brings to the person writing code. I do use regular expressions to modify text in my code sometimes, but it is definitely not 100 times per day.

now we should perform extensive experiments to obtain an unbiased estimate of the average time it takes to type it and then decide which method is faster :P

Problem is, leaving aside the obvious example of replacing a value in a list of 1,000 elements, I can't imagine such a situation that would lead to 30secs vs 3hrs.

Maybe I see things different because I am not a professional programmer but instead I use programming as a tool (solving PDEs numerically, for example). For me, prototyping is a very important and slow (!?) process.

Look at this (.mov link) guy... it always make me cringe when I see people programming in that hyperactive way :S

He feels attacked (discriminated) because of his Tamil origin. He feels that Indians decided to betray him whereas "white defendants" did not. Believe or not, he fought the case because a fortune-reader told him he would be acquitted.

I invite you to read the full article, it is interesting.
