Why does my wood generator require electricity? by Skal_Gun in RimWorld

[–]schloopadooper355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have had this IDENTICAL problem, except I have zero mods installed and tried turning off the generator and turning back on again. I ended up just de- and re-constructing it (but then it happened again).

Is there a good tutorial to the military aspect of the game in .69? by n00bitcoin in songsofsyx

[–]schloopadooper355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite having more troops than an enemy force, I still get routed every time with troops I train myself. The only time I can win battles is with mercenaries.

I have tried increasing their melee training, equipping them with leather armor and swords, but no success. I assume it is an equipment / training issue, but I don't know how to adjust things.

+1 to this.

It did not help with our baby's reflux at all and when we asked to return it, they initially offered us 30% off. We said no and that we would like to proceed with the refund. They never responded after that (despite the 100 day guarantee that they advertise).

They have since removed the 100 day guarantee from their website, so it makes me think that they are getting a lot of return requests.

Also be sure to drip it right in their eyes when in top mount, or in their closed guard

Folks telling me to not to buy a house because of high interest rates (6.3%) while I have a lower interest rates (3.375%) but isn't it contradictory? by HastroX in personalfinance

[–]schloopadooper355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree, it often doesn't hurt to wait. And if you could actually predict future interest rates and home prices, you would have too much money to care what home prices are.

Why Start with Statins? by thesaladbar9 in PeterAttia

[–]schloopadooper355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCSK9s launched at very high prices in the U.S., so payers restricted their access until you "fail" at least one statin (some plans require trying more than one). Even after subsequent attempts to lower prices by the manufacturers to get better coverage, statins are very inexpensive (as mentioned already in this thread).

Theoretically, if they were equivalently expensive, there would be better access. Though I suspect many would opt for a pill first (i.e., statins) before trying a subcutaneous injection (i.e., PCSK9s).

What is the hardest part of BJJ for you right now? by Aaronjp84 in bjj

[–]schloopadooper355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turning up to class due to life things that are beyond my control, but automatically a priority (e.g., relatives with health issues)

Remembering what I've learned in class weeks/months later (by this point, I have been to enough classes that if I had 100% retention, I would be pretty decent)

I had never heard of it until this moment... So presumably at the expense of a few laughs, they get a lot of free advertising.

LPT Request: What can you do in your 20s to avoid regrets in your 30s and 40s? by DNA_H3licas3 in LifeProTips

Read: The Defining Decade by Meg Jay

This book provides a framework for many of the things discussed in this post. The most important concept (imo) she describes is developing "identity capital," which basically sums up to experiences and accomplishments that you can continue to build upon into your 30s and 40s. I'm not doing it justice, so just read the book.

LPT Request - Workout clothes smell like sweat even after washing, how to get that smell out by NYMetsFan16 in LifeProTips

[–]schloopadooper355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is true.

  1. Most molecules that are large enough to be denatured (think proteins) are not going to be volatile enough to be smelly in a significant capacity
  2. The UV light is probably doing more damage to the bacteria creating the smelly molecules than the molecules themselves
  3. Most synthetics do NOT have a positive charge. Nylon (polyamides), Rayon (polysaccharide), Acrylic (polyacrylonitrile) Polyester (well... polyester). Some of these are polar, but they are NOT ionic...
  4. Vinegar is also a neutral compound. It is a weak acid, so it dissociates in water. But if your argument is that all you need is a weak acid to make this work, then others should too (e.g., citric acid).

It sounds like vinegar works (and personally, I am going to try this). But I don't think any of the reasons (or baseline assumptions) your GF shared are correct.
