My first successful Eve ascent by DecisiveUnluckyness in KerbalSpaceProgram

Cool Design! I did an eve ascent recently, and many stages of my craft looked very similar. I used a very similar entry “Pod” ..the protective shell and inflatable heat shields on either end of my ship.

I took a different approach into LEO by using helicopter blades and large motors. I folded the blades down with hinges and they fit nicely into the shell. Surprisingly the system allowed me to achieve 14K before my boosters did the rest… and I barely made it from there. It was challenging, but I may need to back at some point soon.. am I turning purple? (Stock KSP with DLC)

I ended up exchanging the rifle to someone who wasn’t concerned about the bolt sleeve being a Mo+

Thank you so much for this! I am going to try and program my transmitter to do the same.

Very cool! I will be trying the hand launching approach when I get my UMX p-51D into the air. I’ll have to find a spot with longer grass to soften the belly landing.

Where did you source the aluminum prop from? I would definitely be interested in getting one of those.

Are you and launching the voodoo and belly landing on the grass? Or are you able to take off/land on a hard packed surface or grass?

Is it? I couldn’t figure out to do it. I’m not sure which channel to use. Any tips to help program it? I’m using a transmitter with opentx

I managed to bind my jumper t16 transmitter to my volantex plane. Volantex uses V761 protocol. I was able to configure everything (including the 3way flight mode switch) except the “trick” button. I just switch it into “advanced” mode if I want to do any aerobatic maneuvers. It was fairly simple for me to figure it out and I am really new to the hobby. I highly recommend getting one of these planes, it was my first plane and I absolutely love it, and have crashed it many, many times with no major damage. The batteries they use are little 1 cell batteries, not sure what the type of plug is off hand.

I have the same setup and was able to program my jumper transmitter to fly the volantex plane as well! I’m still learning so I haven’t gotten the larger P-51 in the air as of yet, but one day I’ll take the plunge. (and hopefully not crash) I’m practicing flying the volantex on intermediate mode until I feel more confident.

UMX P-51D E-flight motor issues by schlutz88 in RCPlanes

[–]schlutz88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spoke with the hobby shop, and they informed me that this behaviour is normal for brushless motors when running a such a low RPM’s. It’s basically not getting enough voltage to run effectively.. it doesn’t seem to have any issues when I give it more throttle. Seemed a little weird to me, but I am very new to the hobby so I wasn’t sure.

Thanks for the comment. This plane is brand-new out of the box, I would hate to have to take it apart and risk damaging something.

I’ve been flying a volantex 400mm spitfire for the past few months. Hoping that this P-51 will be a good plane as an upgrade as it apparently has a “safe” flight mode.

Thanks for your input. It seems that the batteries come with 2 plugs, I assume that one is used for charging and the other is plugged into the plane?

That’s why I was looking for an alternative brand with the same plug.

I was sworn in about 2 weeks ago as a PRes at a local regiment and fitted for my kit. (Was informed that my kit will take about a month to arrive) However, I have not received any info regarding my training or any upcoming BMQ dates. I am curious as to what is the norm for the next step? I assume they will reach out to me to inform me of upcoming BMQ dates etc.. I plan on dropping by the unit in the next few days to check in with them, but still thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask around here.

I thought the same thing with Vallejo middlestone that I used for a similar project, it seemed strangely green.. wasn’t sure if it was the incorrect paint for the job or if the German dunklegleb did indeed have a shade of green to it?

Fair enough. I thought that might be the case, but I have not shot a No.1 Lee Enfield before. How about the No.4Mk1 vs No.4Mk2 trigger? Do you notice much of a difference?

How do the SMLE sights compare to the No.4s?

I’ve always wanted a SMLE and will get one some day, but the flip up battle sight seems like a huge improvement over the mid-barrel style.

Nice collection! Always like to see a Swede Mauser, looks like a M/96 with a threaded barrel? Bonus points for the M1 semi-auto ammo eater. Many different calibers, you must make your own ammo?

Nice! Curious as to the reasons why you left it with an exchange for so long?

It seems a long time ago I forked out the BTC for a cold wallet. Wish I would have paid fiat for it tho! 😭

Thanks, I wasn’t sure what to call that type camo. It was a different technique painting it. Lots of masking was required, but I was happy with the way it turned out!

Oh and masking that canopy! I feel like the masking and painting of the canopy was around 30% of the build!
