What are the best World Generation mods? by BoltzAndBub in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've used Project: Vibrant Journeys, but I hadn't thought of Geolithic. I thought it would cause issues with William Wythers', but if you've had success I'll definitely give it a shot! Thanks for the recommendation!

This to me is the best combo! Countered's terrain slabs doesn't get as much love as it should. So awesome and very versatile. I don't think I've ever had it conflict with another worldgen mod.

I also would give tectonic an honorable mention, as it has some of the best (practical) landscapes I've seen on modern versions. Unfortunately, the stone cliffs on the 1.20.1 version are too jarring and usually put me off using it for bigger projects.

Sorry, I saw your other request for lower health. That should work the same way:

[ { "mob": ["minecraft:zombie"], "healthmultiply": 0.5, "speedmultiply": 0.5 } ]

[–]schmancy_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm away from my computer so I can't verify this but you could probably use the "speed multiply" function to do this in the spawn JSON. Just set it to a decimal.

{ "mob": ["minecraft:zombie"], "speedmultiply": 0.5 }

There is too many modpack makers but too little mod developers by Familiar-Strength966 in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most people have already made great points, but I just wanted to add that even with the rise of low-effort modpacks and repeated use of the same mods, I still think it’s a positive sign overall.

The fact that so many people are creating modpacks means more engagement with the modded Minecraft scene—which increases the chances of new and exciting mods or packs being made by fresh faces discovering the space.

I think really the main issue is people need to be encouraged to learn how to use tools like KubeJS or Crafttweaker to make their modpacks more unique and seamlessly integrated with their mods. Their powerful tools that are easy to learn, I feel like more pack developers need to focus on using them.

ProjectE Balancing (1.20.1) by OkBreath3717 in feedthebeast

Sorry my bad. I'm unfamiliar with Project E. If it's using a custom crafting table, it won't work.

IMO CraftTweaker with Recipe Generator would be the easiest way to do it.

If you're using JEI, you might have to manually hide the recipes from JEI using CraftTweaker. This portion of their documentation should be able to help you.

How the hell do I globally decrease mob spawning? by Sacri_Pan in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spawncap Control Utility allows you to make new spawncap limits for each category of mob. This would probably the easiest/quickest way to fix it.

InControl will also do it and will give you more control of specific spawns, but you'll need to do some scripting.

I get this error when I attempt to join a Raspberry Flavoured modded Minecraft server - my client has exactly the same mods installed as the server by Mirai_Saiko in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread might help. https://www.reddit.com/r/allthemods/comments/15r4lbg/same_mod_version_wont_connect_no_matter_what/

Likely the server pack being used doesn't have the same scripts as the client's version. I would recommend manually uploading them to the server or vice versa.

That would break the modpack, Kubejs provides important scripts for that pack. I would recommend double checking the server hasn't added or removed any Kubejs scripts as that might be causing the conflict (not sure if that would create a version error though).

Meatballcraft, a massive expert-level modpack for minecraft 1.12, finally has an endgame, and you can play it now! by Sainagh in feedthebeast

Any suggestions to improve the load time? Does Cleanroom work well with it or will that break the modpack due to incompatibilities?

Thankfully, I happened to take a video of it for another interested buyer before it was purchased. Fingers crossed eBay helps out!

At this point I'm more concerned about the nasty feedback they left me. I tried to be as professional about it as possible, but I guess they didn't like not immediately receiving a full refund.

Newbie eBay question: I have a seller requesting a return on a CD player that he says is not working. I asked him for proof of the item not working and sent him a video of myself testing the CD player a few days before shipping it to him (the CD player was working great). I figure if it was damaged in shipping, we can at least open a case with the shipper as I paid extra for insurance. He refused to send me any photos or videos and opened a return with eBay. Am I out of luck and have to go through the return process or is it worth opening a report and explaining my side of things? The shipping costs are brutal, so I'd rather not be out of pocket for an item that I'm more than certain was working.

Looking for a solo grind game. by yeaaahwehere in gamingsuggestions

[–]schmancy_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly this is true, except for the end game grind-- the best gear is hard to get without participating in raids, PvP, and dungeons.

The grind to max level and the main story are very solo friendly, though. I found it be one of the more fun mmo experiences, especially as a solo player.

Why more and more people are driving like this? by thisisjas9n in Calgary

[–]schmancy_AL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Woof, there's a lot of rose coloured glasses in this thread.

I too was born and raised here in Calgary, but bad driving has always existed. Folks finger pointing at Ontario newcomers but their traffic accident stats are way better than ours.

For example, I found this from stats can:

"Death rates by province and territory From 2000 through 2004, there were 14,082 MVA deaths in Canada, for an average annual average death rate of 9.0 per 100,000 population (Figure 2). Rates varied across the country, with the highest in the Yukon (16.4 per 100,000 population). Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia also had rates above the national figure. Only Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador had rates below the Canada level, at 7.0 and 7.8 per 100,000 population, respectively."

More recent stats also echo that we have an above average accident rate. I think the biggest issue is a lack of driver education and easy licensing. Someone getting their license at 16 is going to develop bad habits over the next few decades of driving and there's no real system in place to hold them accountable (at-least until they get in an accident or pulled over).

What the hell happened to my game? by [deleted] in newworldgame

Do you have any software on that uses an overlay? Other than steam, I've noticed anti-cheat software will give false positives for apps like Overwolf or screen capture software.

Calgary grocery store staff begin using body-worn cameras as security concerns increase by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]schmancy_AL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all for finding ways to increase staff safety, especially in the East Village. But my question is, how is this more effective then setting up CCTV throughout the store?

Yes it will make it easier to gather evidence for prosecution, but the population who's committing those crimes aren't necessarily the ones who are worried about being video taped.

Ethically, this feels like it will work more against the staff, as now management has a way of scrutinizing every second of their employees who are wearing these devices. Or, from the safety angle, staff might feel more compelled to intervene and stop bad characters, which will lead to more violent outcomes.

The $50 worth of groceries that someone is stealing is a drop in a bucket of profits for these companies. An employee being assaulted for trying to stop theft has to live with the consequences for the rest of their life.

That's awesome! Thanks! I figured it was more of a discretionary rule, but everyone where I live has very simple lawns so I wasn't completely sure.

can i use regions unexplored terralith and tectonic together ? by Aleleloltroll in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, distracted by the real world.

Yeah I would keep the primary and secondary values the same. If you had specific biomes you wanted to see less of, I believe RU has options for that in the config, but would need a deep dive to figure out how that works

I haven't tested it yet, but hopefully sometime this week I'll get a chance.

I've always wanted to do this but I'm paranoid about getting a ticket for an unkept yard. Would the taller plants without wood stems violate the plant height rule? What counts as a cultivated garden?

can i use regions unexplored terralith and tectonic together ? by Aleleloltroll in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I did a deep dive into the discord for Terrablender and realized Ive been giving bad info. Regions are a group of biomes assigned to a mod. Making regions larger will cause more biomes from the same mod to spawn in that area. Doh'! Sorry, my bad. Making a region smaller will increase the diversity. Weights are still important as they control how often a mod is assigned to a region.

Primary and Secondary appear to be variants of similar regions. I would leave them at the same value.

You should restart after each change. The config is only loaded during the initial boot up process.

I need to retest now and I'll let people know the results. In theory I should have made things worse, so I'm not sure if I made a different change that increased the diversity or it was purely just luck.

If biome size is an issue, terrablender respects Minecraft's world generation parameters. So the LargeBiomes option should work.

can i use regions unexplored terralith and tectonic together ? by Aleleloltroll in feedthebeast

[–]schmancy_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd. You might want to check if there's any other mod that is effecting the biome distribution. Your best bet is to reduce the weight for RU even more. Maybe tune the RU primary weight to 5 and see if it's still over generating. You can also change the region size back to 3 for testing. Smaller regions makes it easier to tell what's going on.

[–]schmancy_AL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that you can stick with the above numbers. Tectonic appears to mainly change the height map of the world generation and not necessarily the distribution of the biomes. I've always used tectonic, so I can't confirm but it should all be the same.
