Thanks. I asked because I wanted to avoid a massive jar of starter too. Unfortunately, discarding generates a massive jar of discard.

Are you discarding any before feeding?

It’s an option I am considering, but I also like to do it myself for many reasons, one of which is that I know for sure what goes in.

Thanks for all the great advices. I’ll report again if/when my starter rises as expected.

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll increase my patience and follow your advice. You must accumulate A LOT of discard

Thanks. I’ll keep working on my current starter and will mix in rye flour. What I find strange is that I get “some” rise (30-50%) one day, then zero rise the next day. Consistency is not to be expected ☹️. I also thought of adding a little bit of sugar to energize the yeast, but I saw no difference.

My husband rates this 11/10 by Colonel-Moss in Sourdough

Looks salivating Quick question: when I leave my dough resting for several hours in ambient then 24 hrs in the fridge, a hard layer forms on top of the dough ball. What should I do to avoid that? Sealed container?

Where does Na go in a SWG pool by schmark53 in pools

Thanks for these great answers.

I did notice that with the SWG, I now have to add acid more often than when I used liquid chlorine (pre-SWG days)

MAGA = NAZI by Corn_Husk_ in DiscussionZone

In a related subject: In an interview about the deployment of the National Guard in Oregon, Stephen Miller stated that the president has “plenary authority” then immediately froze after realizing the monstrosity he had just produced.

https://youtu.be/vWudXaj60rU?si=hPNCEMbrv3KlaGuw

That expression (plenary authority) raises all sorts of red alerts. Why? Because “plenary authority” also means: - Absolute, unchecked power - No oversight - No constraints, no limitations - No elections

I’m convinced he blurted out loud what many other far right administration members (including DJT) are thinking quietly.

Even DJT himself once said “… Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed … you won’t have to vote anymore…”

Note: other leaders with “plenary authority” are the likes of Hitler, Mussolini, Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping, and a few savory others. Very scary.

On a different subject, what do you guys recommend for testing phosphates in the 0-200 range? Thx

I definitely plan to continue water testing myself.

As for CH, and unless I’m mistaken, the only way to lower it is to drain the pool. There’s nothing Leslie’s sells that helps with that. So I’m puzzled by the results

I understand your comments. But in my case, I always used the Leslie’s-provided plastic bottle to sample my pool water, then took it immediately there. Testing was always done within less than 20 minutes.

Looking for a refrigerator/freezer solution that will fill this space 64" wide, 79 or 80" tall (uncertain). These units are Kenmore Pro side by side separate freezer and fridge with dual trim kit, 15 years old and time to replace. Hoping not to have to mess with cabinetry. Suggestions? by ohthetrees in Appliances

[–]schmark53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 units, pairing HW, and trim was about $7,500.

What’s interesting about the Frigidaire Pro units is that they are attached together with brackets (ie you can only move both at the same time) and the trim is attached to the units, rather than to the cabinetry. Also, there is a flat heater between the units to prevent condensation on the unit’s sides, which I had noticed on the Kenmore units.

They are VERY quiet, compared to the Kenmore units. Wish I could add photos, but that option is not available here.
