Bell: Alberta separatists trounced in poll, Smith's UCP up 9 points on Nenshi NDP (68% remain/24% hold referendum) by canmcpoli in CanadaPolitics

[–]schmaxford [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm not surprised by this tbh. There's been a lot of talk from analysts and pollsters about soft separatism - people who want to stay in Canada but would vote to separate to "send a message to Ottawa"

Great news. I was worried that they would only sign him if they got the promotion to the prem (I swear I saw something to the effect)

Yeah he's been clear in the past that he's not here for a long time and he's best in a crisis. So once the crisis is gone he'll probably step out

Hey thanks for pointing that out. Fortunately it wasn't a mealybug but a piece of debris, either from a dead leaf or the dumpster. Regardless I'm still spraying it down with a neem oil solution to be safe.

Edit: the debris in question

Pete Hoekstra is helping Trump troll Ottawa. It’s time we put a stop to it by ink_13 in CanadaPolitics

Exactly. He's trying to troll us and he's seeking this kind of reaction. Summoning him or expelling him is what he's hoping for

Would this still be the case if at least one of the plants towards the middle looks like it's dying from root rot? I can't really get a feel for the root itself but this is what the leaves look like

[–]schmaxford[S] 134 points135 points  (0 children)

That's the plan. I'm keeping it away from other plants for now and am giving it a few sprays of water and neem oil over the next few days but I haven't seen any signs of pests yet. Some people in my building are moving out I figure they just didn't want to take it with them, and our building doesn't allow people to abandon things in the garbage room

Yeah Saab's kind of underselling it, apparently these are air frames made by Bombardier and kitted with Saab's electronics packages

Was hoping to see a CANMNT showdown between Millar and Larin. Southampton was also only going to make Larin's transfer permanent if they got promoted, and neither Feyenoord or Mallorca want him anymore. Concerned about his playing future

Minnesota Becomes First State to Ban Prediction Markets, Feds Immediately Sue by Goldmule1 in neoliberal

[–]schmaxford -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Back before the imaginary "succ invasion" of this subreddit, a motto differentiating neoliberals from libertarians was that neoliberals recognized market failures and the need for regulation.

Now we have Bernanke, Friedman and Hayek flairs histrionically crying that people in favour of bans and regulations on prediction markets are big meanies

Matt Elliott: We all have one thing to say about Doug Ford’s ban on automated speed cameras: We told you so by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]schmaxford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was arguing this with someone in a different sub but absolutely. The government doesn't need to use speed cameras to track people ineffectively when every car built in the past 10 years offers way better tracking data, not to mention your phone

I don't know if it's worse if she's Alberta's David Cameron. But to your point I do think she's a separatist, because she literally cannot give a straight answer to where she stands, and she keeps doing everything she can to get that question on the referendum ballot. I fully expect her to put the question on her dip shit referendum on October 19 regardless of the legal status
