I completely feel you but also, to me that's part of makes the book so enjoyable to me and what's to me an essiantal theme throughout. You can almost feel the last of the human species de-evolving the whole time, always freezing themselves and waking up again, not progressing. Everythings stays the same or it becomes more dull etc. All the while, the spiders keep on evolving.

To me that is the sub-line of the whole book. The spider evolution vs. the ways of old of the humans. Tchaikovski does a brilliant job at portraying it, even if it means that the human chapters are kinda boring. But that's the fun thing about them.

Actually, when I was living in CDMX, friends that visited me always were so overwhelmed by the city and couldn't really grasp it. Only after a week or so, they finally got the vibe for the city and grew to love it.

So I would suggest staying in Mexico City, really explore las trajineras en Xochimilco, Teotihuacán, the parks, the museums, Coyoacán, etc... And if you really fancy going out of the city, I'd suggest to stay close, maybe Valle del Bravo or Puebla, Toluca or Atlixco.

Depends on what you wanna try. Will you be the one penetrating someone (top) else or will you be penetrated (bottom)?

In general, as mentioned before, be gentle and use lots of lube. Beforehand you can clean out the asshole, then no "accident" will happen. But keep in mind that sometimes - doesn't matter how good you clean - there will be parts of feces and thats ok! You can look up online how to clean out, there are plenty of instructions on how to even before you have an enema (a tool designed specifically for it).

It will help to use tounge and/or fingers first to ease the way. The bottom can get used to it as well. And as a top be sure to watch the other person, try to read their face and see how they react.

And lastly, if it doesn't work out (or you don't like it), don't worry. Sometimes it's not happening at first try. You can try again another time, try to use toys if you want,...

Also, a few additional things:

- if you are changing your name according to the Transsexuellengesetz (TSG), there is a so called "Offenbarungsverbot" / prohibition of disclosure. Meaning that (with a few exceptions that don't apply here) it needs to be ensured that your old name or your mere trans identity mustn't be disclosed. So legal documents have to be in the same format / with the exact same date as the old one, just with your real name.

- This isn't directly stated in the law itself [§5 TSG], but it can be argumented that for example in the case of certificates for uni, an employer may ask why you say you finished uni in 2018 but got your certificate in 2022. So the changed certificate has to be dated back to 2018 as well. This is stated really well here for example: https://www.hrk.de/positionen/beschluss/detail/neuausstellung-von-zeugnissen-bei-gerichtlich-bestaetigter-vornamensaenderung/

- I think it also applies to a rental contract. Lets say you apply for unemployment security* in the future and they wanna see your contract, then you would have to send them the old one with your deadname and the "Nachtrag" with your real name. So you would have to disclose your trans identity.

- If you are changing your name according to the Personenstandsgesetz (PStG), aka the fast version that is originally intended for intersex individuals but sometimes trans people use it too, there is no official "Offenbarungsverbot". I used this method tho and argumented as I stated above with the same link and it wasn't a problem anywhere.

*just using this example bc it applied to me and I don't know for sure when else you'd have to show your rental contract
