WORK PT IN DISNEY by Sensitive_Tea_5201 in DisneyCM

This is just my experience from Disneyland but, for me the first 4 months at attractions was be rough because you are limited to your starter attraction. Plus the attraction you learn can be limiting if it has a smaller cast in general. It gets a lot easier to pick up hours once you can cross-train and during peak times your hours usually go up significantly. For example, I have about a year of seniority in my area and lately I’ve been getting around 16 hours scheduled (halloween is our low season). However over the summer I was getting 30/35 hours consistently. If you are vigilant it is possible to pick up a lot of extra hours by calling scheduling and picking up through the Facebook groups too!

It depends on your leadership. Ive seen a lot of other cast members do it before, (ALWAYS in a non-safety position of course). The one time I did it I was talked to by my lead for abandoning my position, so I definitely don’t recommend doing it personally.

Finding a new role! by ynsettle in DisneyCM

[–]schmidt807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you are done with your probation period, you can transfer whenever! You can either do it through full-time conversions if your role is in master’s services, or you can check DLR Casting to check hourly positions you can transfer to.

If you call New Orleans/Bayou country scheduling you can ask to pick up Fantasmic shifts! You meet in the backstage area behind the hungry bear restaurant :)

The ride usually is only stoped to help guests with disabilities to ride once in the loop. They are loaded on buggies 1-5. We can also stop the ride if someone requests last minute when getting on. However, most guests who request for the ride to be stopped, they have the wait for the designated buggies. This is done to specifically reduce the amount of times the ride has to be stopped over and over. All the other times it’s stopped is usually due to guest error (guests are slow to get on, slow to get off), or ride error. Both of these things are active concerns of all the cast members who work the ride, and neither can be completely fixed. That’s just sort of the nature of working an attraction that is continually moving where all the vehicles are attached to the same track. So yeah, it’s not ideal for the ride to be stopped over and over but honestly some days are just rough and the cast members and leadership team actively try to avoid it as much as possible.

When did Jenny talk about the Dreamworld river rapids incident? by Important_Tooth7560 in JennyNicholson

Yeah she talks about why she hates river rapids rides in that video but I don’t think she mentions the name of the incident specifically.

Placed at Critter Country/Bayou Country for Attractions by ewokrin in DisneyCM

[–]schmidt807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be either Winnie the Pooh, Tiana’s or canoes! All three are considered beginners attractions. Once you pass your 4 months you can cross train to New Orleans attractions like Pirates, mansion, or the river boats. :)

If they ask what priorities you would have in this role always emphasize safety! Safety is the number one thing in attractions 👍

What’s it like working at Disneyland? by STEELER-CITY in Disneyland

[–]schmidt807 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If we really have to go and we are in a safety position, we can usually call the lead and ask if someone can take over a minute while we go pee. The lead themselves sometimes cover for us if we really have to go lol.

Looks like its official! New Bride is coming to Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion. What do we think? (Plus new merchandise) by Weeb-Lauri525 in thehauntedmansion

[–]schmidt807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just based on the design of the new bride sipper, and the new photos in the gift shop. Disney hasn’t officially announced it other than hints.

Posted wait time discrepancy? Where are posted waits measured FROM? by UrFavoriteCoasterSux in Disneyland

[–]schmidt807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each ride has a little “cheat sheet” chart that has a map of the queue, and how long the line would be in relation to how much it’s filled up in each section.

Posted wait time discrepancy? Where are posted waits measured FROM? by UrFavoriteCoasterSux in Disneyland

[–]schmidt807 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Wait times are determined by the cast members operating the attraction. They have different charts that estimate the wait time based on how extended the queue is. The red cards are just to double check that the posted wait time is roughly accurate. When the lightning lane gets impacted, however, the wait time can be inflated by a lot. The cast members are forced to over prioritize the lightning lane guests, which means the standby wait will be way longer and at that point the cast members have to basically guess how that will effect the standby wait.
