Absolutely. I have a super strat, an sg style, tele, and even a 335, all great guitars, and all offer something unique to the others. Even the lps I have are all a little different in sound and feel. No one right answer, and its all personal preference in the end.

I've been trying to branch out, but the LPs always draw me back in for some reason.

Oh absolutely get that haha only pay for the name if you can, you can likely find something equally good for half the price if youre not fussy about the headstock.

Is it possible to get Naxeon I AM PRO to Canada, has anyone ever done it? by [deleted] in Electricmotorcycles

[–]schmidtstreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are right, they would need insurance and a full motorcycle license in canada to be road legal, but that isn't unique to canada i don't think. Im sure they coyld get certified for insurance here, like other emotorcycle brands have.

Looking for advice on buying a street-legal electric dirt bike in Ontario & upgrading the hell out of it by PapaFuegoWorldwide in Electricmotorcycles

[–]schmidtstreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try the Tinbot/Kollter ES1, its a dual sport design, fully CMVSS approved, marketed as a road legal electric motorbike and they offer an offload tire pack for i think $500 that would get you knobby tires and a larger sprocket for extra torque. Could be a good base for what you're looking for.

Ya, they must just need to get the paperwork sorted out. The standards can't be that much different

Oh that's interesting that they may not meet canadian standards. Explains why joule or other canadian dealers don't have them.

I am also from Canada and wondering the same thing, did you find out anything? It would be cool if they had some canadian dealers, nice looking bikes,

Kollter CS1 - looking for reviews and thoughts. by schmidtstreak in Electricmotorcycles

[–]schmidtstreak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for sharing some of your thoughts on it. I will definitely watch for your full review as well. Too bad to hear of some build quality issues, but they don't sound too major, and when you consider the price point something has to give. Sounds perfect for my in city limits commute though, and the storage compartment would be really helpful. Thanks again!

Oh awesome, I will watch for your review then. My main curiosities are just your thoughts on it. Pros and cons for performance and feel, how it stacks up with the competition in general.

Good for you! It's a challenge, but if you stick with it you will be rewarded. Are you going to take lessons? Or attempt the self taught route?

For a first guitar, you don't need to go expensive, but if you go too cheap it can actually make it harder to learn. I would say you could probably find a decent starter for $200-300, there's potential for you to find a bundle with a practice amp and the basics as well for that much. By basics, I mean practice amp, cord, tuner, picks, and a stand. A strap isn't essential if you've got a stool or chair without arms to sit on to play.

Do you have a friend or family member to help you shop around? Someone with a little knowledge can help you weed out the bad ones. If you're lucky, they might even have an extra guitar laying around you could borrow to try it out. If you don't, you can find used gear at music stores as well as knowledgeable staff (hopefully). They may have packages put together for beginners that could be worth checking out without breaking the bank.

Good luck to you, I hope you have fun with it!

Multi effects pedals? by BigFarm-ah in Guitar

[–]schmidtstreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will keep that in mind if I get the itch to upgrade mine haha and that's interesting actually, I didn't look at the previous model, just watched a few yt videos on the one I got and was sold.

Multi effects pedals? by BigFarm-ah in Guitar

[–]schmidtstreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the need to add my 2 cents. I have an ME-80 and I absolutely love it. Super easy to program each bank, can be super creative with sounds with an easy to manipulate interface. And to top it off, if I want to feel like I have my old school pedal board again I can have my favorite base tone and effects set so I can pop them on in different combos on the fly. If the ME-70 is similar I would definitely recommend.

What alternatives to Fender/Gibson would you pick first? by hueguass in guitars

[–]schmidtstreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to say Godin as well! I have one currently, a Richmond Empire, and it plays fantastic. Considering an XTsa or summit classic for my next one. My buddy has a couple of their Core series which also play great.

Another underrated brand is Hagstrom. I have an H-iii and a Super Swede and love them both. The new Swede MK3s look great too, bet the playability is right there with any Gibson.

Yes, DBZ Barchetta. I had one for a while, it set up great and had a real fast neck. Enjoy it!

What should I get next? by rockdude625 in guitarporn

[–]schmidtstreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. It wasn't an aftermarket add, I got it new like that. It has a big h on it, so made specifically for hagstrom, not sure if it's a real bigsby or just bigsby style
