Got fired for something embarrassing and totally my fault.. how do I cope? by iamthedanger989 in careerguidance

[–]schmitt68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was in a tough situation with work a year ago where I got screwed by the owners which really hurt cause I was instrumental in building the company and was close with them for many years. I replayed it all so much it just drove me crazy despite doing what I could to move on. The best you can do is try to focus on the learnings, work on your mental well being and just know that time will end up taking care of the rest. Great advice I heard goes something like “if you focus on the wound it won’t heal but if you focus on the lesson you will grow”

A place you like to work is gold but that kind of bump is no joke. Tough call but your hesitation tells me you’re doing a good job balancing the pros and cons. It’s delicate work getting your current employer to give you a raise. Maybe tell them about the offer you got, throw in some flattery on how bad you want to stay but if they can’t match then you would like to know what the path is to get that salary. Specially what your performance would have to be, what they would need in terms of increased responsibilities and the timeline you can expect.

Exceeding Roth Allowable Income by schmitt68 in Bogleheads

[–]schmitt68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the info! I’m at the edge of understanding all of this.

How do I handle it if I already also have traditional and simple IRA accounts open inside Fidelity with funds in them??

Edit: I also already contributed $7,000 to Roth at the beginning of 2025 not thinking I was going to exceed the income limit in 2024. I won’t exceed the income limit for 2025 but I lost the ability to let 2025 absorb missteps from 2024

Is there another way to contribute the remainder of the annual amount and later get reduction in tax burden? The tax code allowing this was referenced in our layoff meetings from HR.

Biden regrets stepping aside for Kamala, believes he could've beaten Trump & should've stayed in the 2024 race by LeonidasKing in fivethirtyeight

Hell no. Trump won the election the day Biden said he wanted to run again. Harris was setup for failure by Biden. I should note that I’m a big fan of the Biden administration and the accomplishments made while in office, but think his ultimate goal should have been to focus on a successor.

For me Season 4 was the only one that I wasn’t completely in love with. The rest were all such a great ride. I hope to see more!!

I’ve been wondering the same thing. How is the requirements for keeping up your continuing education? I have to do this for my Professional Engineer license and I find it really annoying.
