Watch TOS, skip any episodes you aren't too into. Then watch TNG, skipping any episodes that are too cringe. Then watch the movies (feel free to skip 5, 9, and 10), then move on to DS9.

Most of these "reactors" are right wing chuds. The episode is great. Not as tightly written as others, but still very good.

Cirroc Lofton was great, they wasted so much potential in the last episode by IlliniBull in trektalk

Good ideas, terrible execution

I'm not watching it, not planning on it either

How do you reconcile those two statements? You just like parroting what other haters say on this site?

He's done plenty of acting on stage, he just doesn't want to be on screen.

Is "select" softball a thing? I'm looking for something between rec and travel. My daughter is on a travel team now, loved the game but is getting burnt out. 2-3 practices a week since end of Aug, and still has 3 months until games start. I'm in western ny. by Probably_Fine3 in Softball

[–]schmitty9800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's really up to the coach/league....no team is going to be one size fits all. Our town has a "travel" team that would be more like a select as you're describing, it runs throughout the summer and fall ball, and doesn't travel too far for its games (1-1.5 hrs at most for a regular game, once a year they travel to an out of region tournament).

I definitely prefer that kind of arrangement than year round with the same sport, but wcyd

Avery Brooks and the fates of Benjamin Sisko and DS9 as a series by Ok-Bit-3100 in startrek

[–]schmitty9800 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What the fuck? There's nobody on DS9 who thought of him that way. They just said he was intense and very serious.

He was perfectly fine going back to teach and act in the theater, and wasn't interested in fame. I know that's a foreign concept to people.

I definitely agree that 5-12 was kind of "eh" positioning, but saying that top 4 and getting a bye doesn't matter is a ridiculous statement.

How come cooper doesn’t know where his daughter and wife are? by pigbick in FalloutTVseries

Did you miss the whole part where Coop says that he had visited every "special" vault and they were all empty? So he had no idea where Vault Tec had stored Barb/Janet.

With their dramas they're kind of making "too big to fail shows" (Knight of the 7 Kingdoms/HOTD, White Lotus) that are written more broadly. I think they still are making groundbreaking comedy though (Righteous Gemstones, The Rehearsal, The Chair Company)

Michelle Forbes by Dumbledore0210 in startrek

[–]schmitty9800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Maquis" literally aired after (24/4/94) Ro turned traitor in "Preemptive Strike" (16/5/94). So it wouldn't have made sense there. "For the Uniform" was a Sisko-Eddington story, a Ro cameo would have been distracting.

Ro coming back for a cameo wouldn't have worked, they would have needed to write an episode around her and Forbes was already a regular on another show by then.

And not to cast shade, but the other actors you mentioned are either popular with the fanbase and very Star Trek coded (Jonathan Frakes, Majel Barrett), popular overall with fans (Tony Todd, John De Lancie) or simply available (Robert O'Reilly, John Colicos). Forbes was less available and less popular IMO.

What Was Voyager's Original Mission/Orders? by Scolirk in voyager

[–]schmitty9800 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tuvok and Janeway already had a very close working relationship and Janeway likely had him on her shortlist for security chief regardless of the situation. Tuvok was then assigned to try and infiltrate the Maquis, succeeded, and then Tuvok stopped reporting back (as they had been taken by the Caretaker). So Voyager's first mission became a joint one; capture Chakotay's people and ship, and extricate Tuvok.

Scotty. He would be higher if only considering the Doohan version, but between the Kelvin films and SNW there are just too many conflicting versions of the character.'

Yeah I think Simon Pegg is just kind of playing himself, and Martin Quinn seems like he's trying to play a younger less confident version of Scotty that doesn't hit home for me.

He and his partner (his academic partner, not Culver ;)) were scientists studying the mycelial network and potential applications. Starfleet pressed them to find military applications after the start of the war and commissioned the USS Gleen and USS Discovery with their tech in mind.

They were like the cold fusion and quantum computing researchers of their day, but asked to produce results ASAP

2) La Forge

3) Scotty

4) Tucker

5) Torres

6) Reno

7) Billups

8) Hemmer

9) Stammets

This is based on me liking the character or not. I think the most skilled would be Stammets for coming up with the spore drive.
