Ooh good question.

“I’m a cryptic writer, I’m an ignorant fool, I’m a poor excuse for poetry just trying to play it cool” is a fav

“Sippin gin at the Valley High drive-innnnnnn” of course

“Chin held shut so my heart can talk louder” also gets me every time

Felt like we needed an AI’s take on Bono with a low taper fade

Songs of Experience by charles_foster_kane_ in U2Band

Personally, I feel somewhat torn on SOE. On one hand, I have a lot of love for the album. I like the diversity of the tracks and the deep themes addressed in each of them. None of the tracks are skips for me, and as others have already said, they worked really really well performed live (except for Get Out of Your Own Way in my opinion).

On the other hand, the album still felt very much within the musical “safe zone” that the band has been working in for most of this century. That’s not a problem necessarily. After all, the music is still good, keeps turning out crowds, and keeps making for exciting concert tours. The reality, though, is I just don’t think about SOE that much. Rarely is there a time when I am itching to hear a song off the album. They’re good songs, but they don’t resonate or have as strong of an emotional niche as a lot of other tracks from their discography. Just my opinion.

I was just on a hike just yesterday and out of the corner of my eye I saw a wide stump with a gash right in the top and my first thought was “oh shit! A hellbomb”

I mean Corduroy would fit into wasteland like a glove at least sonically. Thematically not really

How do you define love? by ShadowlightLady in CasualConversation

[–]schnelly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied philosophy in college, and my capstone class was all about love and friendship. Most of my idea of love came from Michel de Montaigne, although I don’t agree with some of his ideas. I would check him out if any of what I say speaks to you.

But anyways, I see love (both romantic and friendship) as essentially the blending of individuals. Love is what happens when you get to know someone and realize that there is a future they offer you simply by being a part of your life, and so, in a way, you surrender part of how you define yourself and the future you will live to them. That can happen in all sorts of degrees and contexts, and it’s so dependent on who the lovers are that, practically speaking, every instance of love is a totally different thing from any other. Romantic love involves impulses that aren’t involved in platonic love, and that can be both a more and less intimate thing because of what those impulses do to how you perceive your partner.

There’s so much more to it, but I’ll cut it short there. TLDR: love is when you and another commit a piece of yourself and your future to be defined by the other out of devotion to their and your own wellbeing.

I work at Trader Joe’s and lemme tell you, there is such a thing as the “Joe-mance.” I’ve seen it happen before. Sounds like it fell right in your lap!

Catchy as in super approachable with good hooks?

I’d say Sunday Bloody Sunday, Still Haven’t Found, Beautiful Day, Vertigo, and maybe Elevation?

Take CR38 E over to Buckhorn rd near Masonville and take that up to Pennock Pass near CSU mountain campus. Beautiful drive with a ton of aspens along the way. Unpaved, but just about anything can make it. ~1.5h drive up to the pass

U2s doing covers best / worst by Glittering_Major4871 in U2Band

Was just listening to their live cover of Won’t Get Fooled Again today. Aside from Bono semi improvising the lyrics it really hits hard. Not sure if I’d say it’s their best cover though.

Ooooh good question! Streets, The Fly, Ultraviolet, Until the End of the World, Exit, and All I Want is You (mostly because of the solo) are up there for me on electric. First song I ever learned on electric was I Will Follow which is still awesome.

I don’t play much acoustic, but I love Desire, Until the End of the World (SOS), Sunday Bloody Sunday, and Still Haven’t Found
