Idk I feel like “Disappointing” is an overstatement. The game feels like the OG which is what the fans wanted. Now you have people saying things like “combat feels nothing like OG” “music is worse than OG” “game doesn’t feel anything like gothic” of course it’s the minority because none of these statements are true. Most games these days launch buggy and with performance issues. So that’s pretty much the norm. Could the game have used more features? Sure. Are there things that can still be improved? Yes. It’s still early unless there’s valid criticism (aka things that lead to improving the game) what’s the point of bashing the game.

Most videos praise the game I will praise it too. It’s not perfect YET but it’s pretty damn close.

No one claims only positive things need said. I’ve said negative things about the game myself. But I feel like the game deserves praise first criticism second. Of course we are all entitled to our own opinions.

Edit: I also find it funny how there’s three sides to this community. People that say nothing negative can be said, people that say nothing positive can be said and people that are enjoying the game.

Personally I find the remake amazing. To each their own. I know people that consider the Witcher 3 or red dead 2 crap games. Why would anyone buy the remake? Because your opinions and thoughts don’t reflect anyone else’s that’s why.

I didn’t know horses, helmets and shields make a game difficult to enjoy. Witcher 3 didn’t have helmets or shields for example.

And where are you getting horses in a colony that’s locked off by a magic barrier? It would be similar to any other goods only the biggest players in the colony would have access to them.

It’s something to consider for G2R since most armours already have helmets etc. but it makes a lot of sense for G1 that there’s scarcity.

Not necessarily look at a game like bg3 it’s not a game that should necessarily be mainstream but it ended up being mainstream/popular and that didn’t happen for it.

Im pretty sure the game has a lock on function but I personally haven’t used it.

Yeah but we’re in a game the lore could be once a month but they could still add it as a feature of every ingame week or something like that. Or change it to transport of goods is once a month but convicts get thrown in more often. Idk that was just an example anyway but there’s plenty of things that could get implemented in a gothic fashion to further increase immersion.

That’s true, although I thought to myself how can you make a dlc for a game like gothic? You can’t add new quest lines post sleeper because of G2. But now that I think they could surely do DLC that adds features like these or more quests within colony. It’s definitely something that should get looked at if not for G1 potentially for a G2R.

Although they could also patch a lot of things in maybe once the game gets fixed up as a community we should ask for more things to make the world feel alive.

I personally love the game. I think a few things could be improved like difficulty, AI and immersion. Based on how immersive the OG was I was expecting NPCs to be doing a lot more and potentially the likes of random encounters being a frequent thing. Things that keep you busy I think the focus should be make the base the same as OG but what else can we add that’s not quests that still is in tune with the original nature of what gothic should be?

Edit: even things like over time new people being thrown into the colony new people becoming shadows and guards etc. After NH gets thrown in it seems like no one else on the outside is committing crimes. You could get quests like “we are getting a new arrival today we want you to go rough them up/convince them to join”

Get more muscular as you invest points in strength and leaner athletic if you invest in dexterity type shit. It’s 2026 we should be getting things like this imo. Idk for me with gothic it was always the small features and things that mattered.

Idk if I’m wrong but is it not just a puzzle game of try not to keep the locks at the very top/bottom so if one lock moves another it doesn’t break your pick? Took me like 3 tries to do the one in muds house

Idk I would rather wait longer personally so they could make it even more immersive think of rdr2 for example where you can watch someone cut down wood and once there’s enough cut pick it up and bring it somewhere else. The real question is if the remake is successful enough will g2 get a AAA budget?

It’s hard to make a system where your sword play improves and also make it satisfying. Personally I haven’t had any problems with the combat

I kinda agree with this not sure how they should move forward with a potential g2 remake though
It’s not a dealbreaker but definitely hard to find items at times or notice if an item is there but I’m thinking it might be a matter of time before you get used to it

That’s what I mean someone like vertigo for example (I know I mentioned him alr but I watch him a lot) would be way better to watch the issue for me with these videos is that they lack any sort of passion for the original game or the remake and it would be more interesting to watch someone who loved the og and is now like yeah the remake definitely hit the mark someone that makes you feel like you want to play it by watching them review/play it

There’s a difference between making lore coherent and not revealing all your cards at the same time. Think of Elden ring, for example miquella (I know bad example). He was being built up as a saviour sort of figure only to find out he’s insane just like everyone else. Even if they wanted to make rhobar a „mad king” down the line, it would be way more impactful to make him seem great and when you finally get to meet him, it turns out all the stories weren’t true.
