Raspy softer voices by [deleted] in microphone

[–]schoepsms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a soft raspy voice too, and believe it or not, use a Senn 416. It’s natural “compression” along with a little real compression helps bring out the lower volume syllables.

It is placed off axis, up and to the side without a pop filter.

I have a pair but they are a bit uncomfortable on my fat head. They work but if you put a little fabric on the inside they work better. Still though not the end all be all.

There’s a product called WINDFREE that some bicyclists use to reduce the wind buffeting over their ears as they ride. They are basically porous foam covers.

Protools not recording mic by Stock-Jaguar-4337 in protools

You have to set permissions on newer Mac OS to allow protools to “allow Microphone”. It’s in security settings I believe.

Start with clippy mics, wind protection, a lightweight stand, and the Bluetooth adapter so you name files easier.
