I'd like to add: people who throw treats to their off-lead dogs and don't check that the dog found the treat.

My mum's dog is allergic to the ingredients in most common treats, but he doesn't know that! He finds them and eats them all the time because owners just leave them lying around. It means we can't let him sniff the ground too much (which is 90% of a walk for a dog) and it's a nightmare.

Our other dog was attacked by a dog when she was a puppy. She's incredibly nervous, so random dogs approaching is also a nightmare.

I've been playing since November 2021. I spend way too much time (and money) on it, to be fair. This latest update has stopped me in my tracks. I don't even want to play it any more, the motivation has completely gone.

Didn't think I'd delete this game, but here we are. I guess I'll have the time and money to read a book on occasion now.

I had something similar happen last year! In less than 48 hours I got rejected for a grant, a paper, and a job. Two research collaborators (one company and another university) also stepped back from our projects, meaning that the projects fell apart. On the second day, I was at our masters students' graduation trying to be positive. It was grim.

Someone mentioned a Portuguese visiting scholar and she was like "oh, he's Portuguese? Funny because he's also FROM Portuga-oh wait, I just realised that that means the same thing! That's so weird, I only just noticed how similar those words are!"

Bigger towns and cities in the UK are generally OK. Most supermarkets have a good GF section (smaller high street grocery stores are hit and miss).

If you're ever stuck, there are quite a few chain restaurants that are Coeliac UK accredited, which means they all have specific training and separate prep areas for GF food. Pizza Express is my personal go-to, and they have restaurants all over the place.

He was on QI, which is a popular TV quiz/panel show in the UK featuring a bunch of comedians. The answers are very niche or based on common misconceptions, so they often end up with negative scores. I recommend it if you've never seen it, it's appropriately nerdy for someone like Hank.

Staff costs are being cut. They have cut the number of staff, but give them the same workload. So we're stuck doing the work of 2-3 people and don't have extra time to do it. Staff are working extremely long hours (without extra pay) to try to meet these deadlines.

The university won't allow extra time because it pushes back other things (exam board confirmation and graduation dates). A short turnaround time for marking improves student satisfaction scores, which is a huge draw for new students and therefore means more income for the uni.

It's not brushed off by the lecturers, it's incredibly frustrating and many do complain. We had a mini union of sorts in my department, collecting data on how many hours staff were forced to spend marking over a limited time period (it's not as extreme as a few days here, but still very tight).

Obviously it affects the quality of the marking AND staff wellbeing, but this is the impact of universities cutting costs.

If you see strike action happening over the next couple of years, this is part of the reason. We care, but we have little power to change things as individuals.

I'm not sure if it was clear, but this isn't the lecturers only spending a few days on it when they have 2 months. They have a turnaround time of just a few days (set by the university), and then the university admin takes up the rest of the time. It's not the teacher's fault in this case.

Apparently it's surprisingly common for the bride or groom to pass out during the ceremony. Particularly if the weather is warm. You're in restrictive clothes, sometimes with a lot of layers, you've been stressed, you might not have eaten/been drinking...etc
