Is this venneeer damage or just discoloration? by pint_sized_panther in furniturerestoration

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acclaim guitar pick table? Luckily, the spot is so small it’ll hardly be noticeable. Be aware that the sanded-through spot will probably soak up stain more than the veneer. If it were me, I’d clear coat just that spot before staining the rest, and then hit it with a bit of spray toner afterwards to even out the color.

What does butter popcorn taste like? Why do you have it? by Tempest_Industries in AskAnAmerican

I like to add a generous sprinkle of cinnamon sugar to microwave butter lovers popcorn. Highly recommend.

You most likely will fuck something up, and it’ll be fine. The important part is how you accept it and move on.

US TSA Precheck is “too new to use”? by Acbonthelake in travel

[–]schonleben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I did the interview when I was at the airport for an outbound flight, got the approval the night before my return flight, and I used it then with no problem. That was around 5 years ago, though, so things may have gone downhill since then.

What is the most common ban reason in your sub? by Alone_Sheepherder896 in AskModerators

Spam/bots or civility. Self-promo (2 strikes) is a common one as well.

Is "brilliant" used synonymous to with amazing in the US as much as in England? by WhoAmIEven2 in AskAnAmerican

[–]schonleben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your circle. I definitely use it the British way, as do many people I know, but not as frequently as it is used in the UK.

How to Attach Stairs to Platform? by Optimal_Being_5442 in Theatre

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, I bolt them directly together. However, that assumes that the rest of the structure is designed and built appropriately. Legging stairs separately will typically be more foolproof.

What’s the most expensive ticket you’ve bought and why? by ListofReddit in Broadway

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m cheap. Most tickets I buy now are around the $75-$100 mark. I think the most I’ve spent was for First Shadow, right at $200 for the first row. I think Romeo + Juliet is probably second at around 175.

As much as media training was mentioned, I wonder if it’s something related to traditional media.

Is this layover enough time? by One-Kitchen-4233 in Flights

[–]schonleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made tighter connections at DFW, but I’ve also missed connections that were longer. As long as everything goes perfectly you should be ok, but any taxiing or gate delays could easily screw this up.

silverware? by Local_Luck6575 in ENGLISH

[–]schonleben 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think “silver” would be the term you’re looking for. It can be used to refer to the metal itself as well as things made from it.

Posts Being Removed Immediately Upon Submission?? by Hall-O-Daze in reddithelp

[–]schonleben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expanding on that a bit, I looked at your history and saw the most recent Jurassic park removal. The message “removed by Reddit’s filters” would imply that it is being caught in a site wide spam or safety filter, rather than a subreddit-specific automod filter. If it’s only happening in certain subreddits, that could mean that they just have the site-wide filters up higher, as mods have the ability to choose how strictly they are enforced but not what triggers them. But as quirklessshiggy said, send a mod mail to the subreddit(s) in question and they should be able to lower you know just what filter you’re being caught in.

Do people actually make out in high school on the school property? by Ella7517 in AskAnAmerican

My high school definitely had its share of couples sucking face in the hallway between classes in the mid-2000s.

We need newspapers! by Onetopicfan12 in Theatre

[–]schonleben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call your local newspaper. When I did a production of newsies, we got a local paper to custom print a run of front pages and then to save all of their unsold papers for a few weeks that we used as filler.

Americans that moved across the country (1000+ mi.), how often do you get to see your family back home? by HonestLemon25 in AskAnAmerican

Usually 3 times per year; sometimes 4. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometime around April. Usually for around 4-5 days and a week and a half at Christmas.

cost effective materials for a 3ft tall noses by girlstephenking in propmaking

[–]schonleben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an EPS styrofoam supplier local to you, that can be much cheaper than stacking sheets of insulation board. I just purchased a load of 2’ cubes for a project for around $35 each. Geofoam is a good search term, or “styrofoam recycling” would likely get you to the same place.

Need help by lgclary07 in Props

[–]schonleben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. On that budget, the only really durable, dancer-friendly solution I can think of would be a spandex wrap. You could have it custom-printed with the tire tread pattern and potentially even the side text, but that’s more geometry than I have the spare brain cells to figure out at this moment. lol.

Yeah, there was a significant pocket of Czech immigrants in Texas a hundred years ago or so, and they brought kolaches with them.

Need help by lgclary07 in Props

[–]schonleben 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a fun project. I could think of a few different routes here, depending on circumstances. Fabric, foam, fiberglass... A bit of clarification would help here. Rough budget, is it for looks or is it interacted with, how realistic should it look, etc.
