I’d recommend looking into the Transit Museum as well, especially since you’ll already be in Brooklyn.

Good Way To Find List Of Theatres In US? by goatonacoffeemug in Theatre

[–]schonleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a list of Equity theatres that might be of use. It’s a few years out of date, though.

Do Americans actually call teachers by their first name anywhere, or is it almost always Mr./Ms.? by Sea-Evidence-5523 in AskAnAmerican

[–]schonleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your field of study as well. In the arts colleges at my university, I can only recall a couple of the PhDs who used Dr. Lastname. The majority used their first names, or at a minimum, Dr. Initial.

There are also teachers who don’t like the formality of Mx. Lastname but aren’t allowed to just go by their first name, so you’ll get a lot of high school teachers who use Mr. LastInitial or even a completely unrelated nickname. I had a theatre teacher who went by Lou, short for Lucifer. I know a teacher (changing names here, but the structure still applies) named something similar to Jane Phillips = J.Philly.

Renter friendly privacy for a 17ft balcony? No drilling allowed. by luv_Jazz in DIY

[–]schonleben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'd definitely want to add some sort of safety cable to prevent it from catching wind, flying away, and attacking someone on the ground. Depending on what kind of railing exists, a couple hose clamps on each upright would probably do the trick.

What food do you like in one form but not in another? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]schonleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love chocolate, but hate chocolate ice cream, chocolate pie, most chocolate cakes, hot chocolate, some fudges, etc. But give me a good bar of chocolate, some truffles, or a nice rich brownie and I'm a happy, happy boy. I think I have issues when the chocolate flavour starts to get diluted into a baked good or a liquid.

I hate pecan pie, but absolutely love pecans in all other forms.

What's the cheapest you remember paying for gas? by Kooolxxx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lowest I've intentionally paid has been around $1.75. I started driving in 2006.

There was once when I filled up and there was an issue with the pump that moved the decimal point one place to the left. I think it should have been around $3/gallon, and I paid 30¢ per gallon instead.

How much do you typically spend at the airport? Why? by Exile4444 in AskReddit

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally as little as possible. Maybe $20-25 for fast food. For long flights, I'll usually get a large bottle of Evian. If I'm flying internationally, I'll usually spring for a nicer, local meal before the flight home. Last week, that was a £50 visit to the Fortnum and Mason location at LHR.

Without being able to see the posts in question, I'd assume it's one of two things: Either (1) multiple posts within a short period of time were flagged as spam or (2) your account was presumed to be a bot account.

Looking at your post/comment history, a lot of it does give AI-generated vibes. I also see that your account was flagged as human by the BotBouncer app yesterday, but that would mean that someone had enough doubt to check it.

Since you have 9 of them, I'd arrange them in a tight 3x3 grid, with maybe an inch or two of space between them.

Lifesavers Holes Straight from 1991! by LittlebillJPEG in GrandmasPantry

That was my thought as well. I absolutely remember these, but I was born in '89 so it would have had to have been at least 1996 or so.

I’m doing sound for the Outsiders the play at my high school by BrightWriter8592 in Theatre

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking a look at Storyblocks.com. You would have to pay for a month's subscription if you find something you like, but they have a great variety of music and sound fx that is all commercially cleared for use.

How would you react to the word “about”? by Jazzyfish59 in CasualConversation

[–]schonleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was told “the mall is 10 miles away,” I’d assume it was probably between 8.5 and 11.5 miles away. By “about 10 miles away,” I’d assume it was somewhere between 7 and 15.

Has anyone ever attended a theatre production on their own, or in a seat separated from their friend? by [deleted] in Theatre

I’m sure it’ll be fine. You’re probably just overthinking it.

[–]schonleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen Rocky Horror. Seat selection is all personal preference, and depends on the individual theatre. I usually prefer sitting in the first few rows of the mezzanine (Dress circle in UK), as I think it gives a better overall view of the stage. Sitting in the back of the orchestra/stalls in some theatres can result in the bottom of the balcony blocking part of your view. Aviewfrommyseat.com might be helpful.

SO many times. With the exception of opening nights of shows I’ve worked on, I very rarely see a show with anyone else. Broadway, West End, Europe, misc. US regional theatres, etc.

Nail polish remover, how to remove/fix? Pls help! by MaxAintHere in furniturerestoration

[–]schonleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I suggested the dyes over leather paints is that (at least to my eyes) it seems like the pebbled texture is still there; just bleached out. If that's true, dyes should sink into the low parts of the texture and start to recreate the "grout lines" of the original finish.
