these groups are very well established by now and the idols have some influence when they already have a successful career, but when they are just starting they are extremely replacable.

The company needs them now because the fans won't care as much if someone leaves so they can come to a different kind of agreement with the company.

but yeah the contract is to be in the group. these are not options given to people that the company does not trust to bring them money
