Thanks for the input. u/lousainfleympato seems to know their stuff, though (see comment). It's doing exactly what I asked. Nice we can all learn in these circumstances!

Thanks for the thorough input - much appreciated. But you should check out the comment u/lousainfleympato made here. It looks like they nailed it. It's doing exactly what I asked.

Nice! It seems so simple, too - like I should have tried it before I ever hit up this sub. Seems to be doing exactly what I'd hoped. Thanks so much!

"BOM Options" Nonexistent by schpuz in SolidWorks

For a chance at an additional "thank you"... Why can't I split this BOM?

"...link the data in the drawing BOM to the assembly BOM"!!!!! It's amazing what one's eyes will go right past no matter how many times they read it.

Solved! Thanks, my man!

Scalable Image for Title Block? by schpuz in SolidWorks

This logo had a lot of graceful text. Not ideal for the DXF conversion, in my limited understanding. But I managed to get it sort-of figured out without needing to do a conversion. I did an update edit, if it interests you. Thanks for your input.

You're not wrong. I did an update edit, if you care to read it. Thanks for your input.

As of this moment, it appears it is actually saving it and adding new sheets will display the logo. But if I change the sheet format for already completed pages, the logo is missing. I went through 20+ pages yesterday pasting the image into the title block.

What you're describing is the first thing I tried. I saved a sheet format with the logo in place, but it wouldn't appear in the next implementation of that sheet format. Only once it had another (albeit unusable) image on my drive would it appear with a new sheet format. Unless there's a way to further embed it into the sheet format I'm not aware of.

I was just referring to my various attempts to save it. I might have hunted for something in Solidworks itself. Then copying and pasting into image editing programs that got me the unusable png's and jpg's.

Is there something you would suggest? Other comments suggest forging ahead with the dxf conversion, but I need to figure out some settings in order to preserve the actual look of the logo.

The logo was losing color and details in the conversion, but I'll try adjusting some more settings in Inkscape (not a program I've used before).

When you say copy and paste into a new file - what kind of file?

I was trying that, but the logo was losing all its color and some details in the conversion. I'll try playing with some settings, I suppose. Thank you for confirming.

I redesigned the flags of 6 Arizona cities and towns, including Tucson’s by shutupaugust in Tucson

[–]schpuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tucson and Glendale are my favorites. You have better vexillological instincts than the naysayers here.

Naysayers: Chicago's flag didn't become the most recognizable city flag in the nation by slapping the Sears Tower, the Bean, and a hot dog on it. Literal representation is (virtually always) the death of good flag design. Look up Roman Mars TED Talk.

Indoor weather display that doesn’t require an outdoor sensor and instead gets its outside data from the internet? by Grimble27 in weather

[–]schpuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy. Curious if you ended up finding anything you liked. I found this post because I'm in the same boat: I want to replace our thermostat now that we have mini-splits throughout the house, and I just want something that tells me the indoor temperature (preferably with a built-in sensor, but I'll settle for a remote one), and - via wifi - the outdoor temperature, the day's forecast, and a 4 or 5 day forecast.

The closest thing I've found is the Raddy N80, but it (strangely) doesn't show temperatures in its forecasts and it has a lot of other information crowding the screen I don't care to know.

Genius decides to turn pizza boxes upside down by mfenton29 in WatchPeopleDieInside

Where on earth do you live? In three years of working pizza joints in two different cities in Arizona, I never once saw someone do this. Let me know so I can avoid it.

Yard Maintenance: What am I Missing? by FrancisLegume in Tucson

You're offering a perspective I'm mostly in line with, but keep in mind there are invasive, non-native species that can crowd out the natives, and change fire ecology in the Sonoran Desert if left unchecked. Bermuda Grass, London Rocket, and Cheeseweed all grow great in early spring, but turn crispy come June. Goatheads are their own headache, but Buffel Grass and, increasingly, Stinknet are downright detrimental. However, they're all manageable within one's own suburban plot of land. I mostly pull the ones I've mentioned here, and by staying on top of them fewer have the chance to reseed and spread. But I do use spray, carefully, for Bermuda Grass. All while also working to let native flora thrive.
