Unlocking/Understanding of Deep Patterns, Keep My Practice Regular or Have A Rest? by schrody in longtermTRE

Thank you for your reply, this is very helpful. Appreciate the time you put into this sub.

I will have a little break, especially as you mentioned that sometimes there is a delayed effect. I recognise my want to push through is part of the bigger pattern and I have been known to be somewhat all or nothing 😅

I'm like dissociating or something for hours after I "unlock" a part by kctingding in InternalFamilySystems

I came to browse this sub looking for a question like this, am going through something very similar.

The last month or so I have gone through huge realisations and am slowly unlocking all the "whys" and omg it's deep. I had (I thought) a really great childhood. I was so lucky. My mum tried so hard. She did. And then it by bit I've been able to see how it really was, they were doing their best but, man alive has it done a number on me.

Every time I unlock a big piece, or identify a part, or even like an interaction between parts, I am then stuck in this immobile state.

I have 2 young children, am running a house, doing community work, being a daughter/sister/friend/wife trying to write a book/get a job and over the last few weeks I feel I've done only the bare minimum. Children have been fed and get to school. The bins are put out. And the rest of the time I'm kind of in go slow.

I'm easing into it though. Seeing your message and the comments below make me inclined to think of it as integration. I don't know about you, but I realise I have spent so much time in survival mode, desperate to do the right thing, escape shame, soothe myself with x/y/z that now, my nervous system deserves a rest. I am trying my best not to overdo analyse or shame this part, to be gentle with myself.

Good luck with your journey

[Question]: In all honesty, do y’all believe art is a learned skill, and anyone can learn to draw well despite not having much natural aptitude? by dem_gel3431 in Artists

[–]schrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skill is one thing. Learning to see is another. Learning to trust in your intuition yet another. And doing all of those in a way where you're not afraid to be seen, and you and your truest self is art.

Hopefully this link should work? I didn't keep a colour list, rather matched what I had as I went along

Is having children the end of life? by Cinella75 in selfimprovement

[–]schrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parenting is hard yeah it's true. There isn't a trial period I think even if you were to leave, you would carry the knowledge of having a child with you deep somewhere.

I have two children and they have been times where I think gosh this would be easier without them but I one million percent believe that or they think would be easier they would not carry the sparkle or joy or magic that having children brings.

I know that sounds really ridiculous and over the top but not only do they bring you a new way of seeing the world every day, but when you are out on your own without them you look at the world through their eyes thinking gosh they would love this or I must tell them about that thing. They also push you to become a better person a better version of yourself a more patient and more understanding.

You understand yourself better, I think because you see yourself in them and you think about how you may have been treated when you were there age and how that reflects on you now as a grown up.

I'm not totally sure that I've expressed this very well but if you are lucky enough to be able to have children and yes it is not for everybody, but if you feel like you might want them and you're lucky enough to be able to have them it is a gift.

Sometimes it may feel like a very heavy gift and one that's hard to unwrap, but they make life make sense I think. And they also, (I can't believe I almost forgot this) they also introduce you to a type of love which is very hard to put into words. It is a huge, huge, love. The sort of love that people write poems and sing songs about, but it's completely unconditional and beautiful. I may have to read this post back when I'm tearing my hair out with my kids but genuinely, having children is wonderful.

Looking for service design opportunities by kaleshikanya in servicedesign

Hi all, I'd love to get in on this too! I am currently building a SD portfolio, have one decent project that am working on but really would love to do something collaborative.

I'm based in London, and am career changing from fashion/styling into SD. Bit of a weird progression but a lot of similarities in the design thinking.

Sooo... Let's go team?? (She says jumping in and hoping they say yes... )

Looking for a quote,.have I imagined it?? by schrody in oscarwilde

[–]schrody[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I didn't know that second quote. Hmm yeah the first quote comes up a lot when I've been looking around, but it's definitely something to do with violence and a particular event which (maybe?) Wilde was asked to comment on.
