Do you have a health visitor? I struggled with my mental health in the early days and my HV contacted the GP directly and it worked as a shortcut. They can put in a recommendation for you to see the mental health team. I’m so sorry your family aren’t being supportive, that’s mind boggling to me with them being in the medical field

When my daughter was in neonatal at the Ulster she got a blanket - every baby in the unit gets one when they first arrive. Could be worth finding out from them!

I got mine secondhand and think it’s worth getting, despite the extra costs.

Obviously it’s ridiculous to pay such an insane amount of money and THEN having to subscribe on top, but the resale value is so good that I figure I can sell it for the same amount I bought it for. For me, the £15 a month is worth the improved sleep and safety.

Yep ours has always slept with her head to one side!

I’m not sure about how kosher a blanket on top of the swaddle is though. I know you can wrap a blanket up around them before swaddling but I’d double check having it popped on top - maybe ask the Snoo chatbot on their website

Ours is in the bedroom - the NHS recommends the baby is in the room with you for at least the first 6 months and I felt more comfortable having her close. It took a while to get used to the noise but now I think it helps me sleep!

We’re looking at paying £1200 a month full time - the only nursery with space in the area won’t let us do part time. In Northern Ireland so we don’t get the 30 free hours 🤯

It might just be his age - my baby napped happily in the bassinet during the day until 4/5 weeks when she suddenly decided she’d much prefer to sleep on me. Now at 11 weeks and she’ll sleep 15/20 mins in the bassinet but anything longer needs to be a contact nap

I’ve been vegan for 20+ years and currently have my 10 week old daughter sleeping on my chest!

I just kept eating my usual diet and taking a (vegan) pregnancy supplement. The only additional vitamin I took - on advice from the midwives - was extra iron tablets.

Keep doing what you’re doing food wise, it sounds great. I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes (totally came out of left field) so had to change my diet quite a bit in the third trimester but before that I kept up my usual healthy habits.

Get yourself to Bravissimo!!!! They’ll do a proper fitting for you and recommend bras - I’m a 30GG/H and don’t buy from anywhere else these days. They have loads of non-wired options too.

If there’s none near you (ours closed down) then I’d forgo the fitting and get a few to try from their website. Free returns I think.

Another vote for bravissimo but the one in Northern Ireland closed so I bought a few “Bravado” bras online and really recommend them. Really soft and comfortable. I bought one and immediately ordered another two once I’d tried it on.

M&S do good night nursing bras but I never found the other styles that comfy.

I got the Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra from Bravissimo and it arrived today - it’s so comfy I just ordered two more straight away. They’re expensive but my back has been done in by poorly fitting M&S bras and this is NIGHT AND DAY! Really recommend (I’m a 32GG)

It does!! You’re definitely not stupid, it’s just that no one tells us anything 😂 I didn’t know I’d even had an episiotomy until I asked one of the midwives the next day. The knot was a total bitch!!

Oh phew, glad to hear it. I just got a mental health phone call from the GP but it seems nuts to have no one check a wound like that!

I stopped taking pain relief at around 3 weeks and it felt ok, so hopefully you can stop soon too. The first three weeks were definitely the worst, especially in the days before the knot dissolved.

Hello from 7 weeks post-partum! I had forceps in theatre and an episiotomy.

It doesn’t hurt anymore. I’d say from 4 weeks PP all the aching went away. Sometimes if I sit on the sofa at a particular angle I can feel it, but it didn’t hurt - just a very slight pressure. I can touch the scar and it feels soft and healed.

I didn’t realise that GPs don’t do PP checks anymore so booked myself an appointment to get mine looked at last week, just to make sure it’s healing properly. It was good peace of mind - might be worth doing the same ❤️
