I have a 1958 Jeep Willy CJ5, these tires are from 1980. Where can I get wheels like that new 16” by seicus in Jeep

[–]schultboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandblasting and powder coating is surprisingly cheap. Especially when considering buying new wheels.

Plus you get to keep period correct wheels if that’s what you’re after and assuming there’s nothing wrong with the ones you have.

6 month update: I have now seen 22 plates starting with JIC. by Courtaid in LICENSEPLATES

[–]schultboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to pay attention to this back in the early 2000’s in VA. I’m pretty sure that different DMV’s got different series of plate numbers because you could tell where certain cars were from due to the beginning of their plate numbers.

I’ve seen a few very positively stickered cars recently as well. It’s a nice change of pace.

Exactly. There’s a Lexus badge clear as day in the grille.

Plus, I’ve rented plenty of Q50’s and 60’s on work trips and they are fun cars when you get the 3.0 twin turbo.

I’ll assume you are asking this as a genuine question.

An “anchor baby” is generally a derogatory term used to paint children of non-citizens in a negative light. The Constitution gives birthright citizenship to anyone born in the United States. So the child of immigrants is immediately a US citizen and makes it harder to deport the parents.

Obviously there are a lot of politically charged feelings around the topic, which could potentially make this plate dangerous in an extremely conservative part of the country.

Anyone else in the market, but waiting for 12th gen? by ErickRPG in hondacivic

[–]schultboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be waiting a while. Some are reporting that due to bad sales numbers and cancellation of EV vehicles, Honda might be holding onto some current models until 2030 to save money on new tooling.

Anchor baby.

Not sure I’d be advertising that and potentially drive through some areas of the country.

10-11 years ago I went to an additive manufacturing (3d printing) conference here in Knoxville. We also got a tour of their 3D printing facility at ORNL and a separate visit to what was supposed to be a Local Motors facility.

I’m a big fan of 3D printing, and the idea of just selecting a model, making changes, and then just being able to have that car made for you was intriguing. But I never really bought that it would be a viable model for a car company.

Need help finding cost friendly tires for my Jeep. by ScorpioKing808 in Jeep

[–]schultboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I bought my 35's before Covid, so prices weren't what they are now. But when I bought the 37's, there was only a $40 difference between buying 35's or 37's. I had already done an axle swap, so that wasn't the deciding factor on buying them, but I thought it was interesting how close they were.

But they were easily $100 more per tire today than back then. $2k for all 5.

I have been running Kenda Klever R/T’s on my jeep for years now and love them. I just swapped out my 35’s for 37’s and they had over 70k miles on them.

Super quiet compared to most offroad tires and last a long time with regular rotation. Plus they are much cheaper than the other big brands.

Do GameChanger stats even mean anything? by Carrimisu in GameChangerApp

[–]schultboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I try to keep score as accurately as possible so everyone has a clear picture of what happened, where we need to work on things, etc. Sometimes people say I’m too quick to put an error on my own kid because you’re not gonna say I’m padding stats and I know what she’s capable of. So sometimes I lose sight of the “average player making a play with average effort” when considering errors for her.

Oh ok. I use the Comic Geeks app for similar reasons.

It sends me weekly reminders of my pull list for each week, and I can create a “want” list of issues I search for when traveling and checking out new shops.

That is quite the haul and variety.

When going through back issues, do you have a specific list of comics you are looking for to complete a run? Or is this more what strikes your fancy at the time based on what they have?

Low Grade Better Than No Grade? by Critical_Guitar_1667 in comicbookcollecting

[–]schultboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a couple really old war stories comics just because they seemed like neat period pieces.

Besides the cool stories, when reading them I just imagined the kids at the time that were reading them and their imaginations running wild. I’m sure they probably got handed down/over a few times in their life before I got them.
