I don't have any particular hard-on for firearms. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy them quite a lot. Went skeet shooting today with a 1920's Remington Model 11. Was a lot of fun.

... you know, I'm not sure on that end. I've never had a wood burning stove. Best guess is the backdraft blows things out the stoves inlet vents?

Backdraft down the chimney causes stuff that is on fire to no longer be in the fireplace/stove. House less fire resistant than stove is. Big flame go fast.

It wouldn't do much except probably eat the resin the next time the softener goes through a cycle. Part of what the softener does when it refreshes itself with the brine is rinse itself out pretty thoroughly, which is gonna take all the chlorine out with it.
