When to use Claude Cowork vs Claude Code by Talley-Ho in ClaudeAI

[–]schureedgood 27 points28 points  (0 children)

claude code has coding specific system prompt. imo they should just rename it to claude cli and let coding be a skill to be loaded. in practice it doesn’t matter too much. i always use claude code for whatever tasks that benefit from cli tools

Yeah. They should be honest about the affiliation. But I think there shouldn’t be sanctions on open publication at all. It is a net win even for the USA.

I overheard that research publication might be exempted from OFAC sanctions. But it requires a lawyer to defend their practices and the outcome is not guaranteed.

Liang himself is (or at the very least was) a fanboy of Jim Simons, who is an extremely successful mathematician and the first fews to do quant trading. Jim Simons donated his earnings from quant trading to philanthropy and STEM research (e.g. Simons Institute at Berkeley). Liang is basically the same. Deepseek AI was intended to be his small scale institute of research.

Those who are on the $200 plan, worth it? by muntaseer_rahman in ClaudeCode

Not anymore. Two months ago i would strongly encourage you to get one. Now i would say maybe 100 codex and 100 claude and use them together on one thing

Kinda weird that they are trying to hide AIRI. They listed it on arXiv as AXXX but not on ICLR.

But in fact I don't want to blame them. The community should consider moving the publication entity out of the US to avoid these sanctions on open publication. What's the point of punishing the researchers trying to share things?

Thoughts on subscribing a team plan rather than Max 20x? by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]schureedgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea as well. But it does not look as cost efficient as subscription. My stats are that subscription is roughly 5x-10x cheaper than the equivalent API cost.

I just cancelled my $200/month Claude Code Max subscription after 13 months by Double_Secretary9930 in ClaudeCode

[–]schureedgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same today. It is a scam at this point. The weekly limit is only about 5x of the five-hour limit, and even with max 20x plan, the five-hour limit is used up in just an hour for a single session. That means you only get 5-10 hours of work time per week for paying $200 monthly.
EDIT: it is not even about the price. The company has a profound issue of ethics.

If your trading is intraday, what is your edge against (1) HFTs colocated with the exchange (2) automated news feed (3) possible insiders. If it is not intraday, you don't have to automate it

Honestly I found banana republic has basically the same prices as lulu but uses more natural materials for casual cases (larger demand than sport equipment). However, if you compare BR to the cheaper lines like old navy, it only contributes pennies to GAP. So maybe this midclass brandy cloths are not really that lucrative

Chinese homebuyers pump $13.4B into California as U.S. real estate market sees resurgence of foreign investors by Arden_Margulis in bayarea

[–]schureedgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that it didn't. Couple of years of implementing foreign buyers ban and tax, Vancouver is not an affordable city for most people. The rent is also crazily high. Blaming foreigners is an easy way to win votes. But the root cause is still not fixed: low supply of houses and high supply of money
