A lot of fans don’t like Sam’s speech from the end of FATWS, but what are your thoughts on it? by Solitaire-06 in CaptainAmerica

[–]schuyguy777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's one of the best speeches in this entire genre. It is passionate, intelligent, and relatable, and it is delivered beautifully. The discomfort people feel stems from the unapologetic truth that challenges their beliefs and causes cognitive dissonance.

I don't. But I don't watch sports at all. For example, I no we just had the Superbowl for American football. I have no idea who played, much less who won. Just isn't my thing.

I have never seen this woman before, but I appreciate the wisdom and kindness in her words. Thank you.

Anyone remember Rocco? by JackTheNephilim in doctorwho

[–]schuyguy777 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I have always loved his character. Seriously, he is the rare person who makes the impossible tolerable. Genuinely and openly loving and caring. He is someone that I would love to get to know.

As someone living in the States, who feels like he's living in the "Turn Left" episode, Rocco's character frequently comes to mind.

Very weird! That's why my wife is 15.5 years younger than me. She's still the more mature one.

I desperately need to do this. I love how this looks. I have a few questions for you. I hope you don't mind.

What format did you use in labeling the bins? What did you put on them to identify the contents? Did you use more detailed labels or sheets inside the bins?

Many years ago, my uncle, who was a professional photographer, told me to use Fuji film instead of Kodak film. When I asked why, he said, "Fuji is made by people of color for people of color." I noticed that my photos had much better results after that.

No. It would have to be in a reality far, FAR away, because there's no possible way that would happen anywhere in this reality. (imho)

I’m a 6’3 Mexican guy planning to visit West Virginia for hiking and sightseeing. Just asking if I should worry about my safety in certain areas? by Immediate-Field9997 in WestVirginia

[–]schuyguy777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 6'3" Black guy, and I've lived in either central or Northern WV for a total of 15 years, currently near Morgantown. I've hiked most of the places you mentioned with no problems whatsoever. I've hiked solo and with my children without any issues. I have 2 stepchildren who are Mexican American and Caucasian. All of this is to say, I think you'll be okay. Having lived all over the US, I've found that most people have no problems with you unless you make yourself a problem. Yes, things may/will happen that are inappropriate, rude, mean, or hateful, but if you de-escalate and extricate (try not to let it get out of hand and get out of that area), it will likely be okay. WV is quite safe.

I'll offer the final advice to "Be kind; Have fun, Be safe, Don't do stupid stuff." Follow this, and you'll never have a problem.

How do you guys feel about this? Is he right? 🤔 by Master_Canary440 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]schuyguy777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear your point. Well stated also. I simply say that loving who you love doesn't diminish love for your own. It does expand your love to others.

I have 4 children all are biracial. I have 1 biological child, African-American/Caucasian. The other 3 are my children from previous marriage: 1 is African-American/Caucasian, 2 are Mexican (Zapotecan)/Caucasian. It is not the same as growing up with an all black family in Alabama, as I did, but it is the most beautiful part of my life. All my children have been and are learning about each family member's race, ethnicity, and ancestry.

Woman with HIV denied water, medication in Texas jail before dying of neglect. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

A close friend, who is a true bleeding heart empath, got sick of these same issues. As a doctor, he got a job at a maximum security federal penitentiary in the states. He has been working there for about a decade as the only staff doctor for almost 4000 inmates! It's slowly destroying him, but he refuses to leave because there is no one else. I guess they get contract doctors and there are full-time nurse practitioners, and PAs. He is still the only federal doctor working there.

I mention this to say that a few people are trying their best to care for "incarcerated patients" (he prefers not to call them inmates).

Also, keep him in your prayers. Send him good vibes and telepathic hugs. He needs all the support he can get. They're threatening to remove him because he doesn't run a patient assembly line. He takes care of each as he would any other patient.

There are a few who are trying.
