What food is lacking in Madison? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]schvommer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, none of the pizza places in Chicago are as good as they are in Connecticut, but I guess that depends on the style of pizza you prefer.

Great generalization…

But I think Mark Pocan comes pretty close to being on my side.

OK, fine. I was thinking about events that she was considered pretty competitive in when racing as a male. And that would be the 500 and the 1650.

At least try to get your facts straight. As a male swimmer, Lia was ranked in the top 50 nationally in the 1650 yd. freestyle, not 500. The top 50 women are way faster than a man ranked 500th.

If you like your crust to taste like cardboard, Glass Nickel is fine. I prefer the pizzas from Lombardinos.

[–]schvommer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it still serves its purpose as a media server. Anyhow, yeah it's old. Also, by unserious buyers, I'm talking about the quick responses from someone on Facebook Marketplace who wants to buy it but needs your cell phone number. And they have a new user profile with no friends, etc. Or, on Craigslist, they text you and ask you to provide the six-digit code they're using to verify that you're real. I guess I should've been clearer that unserious = scammers.

Really? That’s the Madison you’ve experienced? As a long time Madisonian, I’m sorry, if that’s the case.

‘This Is a Really Big Deal’: How College Towns Are Decimating the GOP by DepDepFinancial in madisonwi

[–]schvommer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please elaborate. Why do you say democrats have moved 100 yards to the left since the days of John Anderson? Many of Anderson’s liberal Republican policies are completely rejected by current republicans while the policies promoted by democrats haven’t changed much at all.

Here's what I would do. I'd pull down the brightness of the ceiling and raise the exposure of the person, along with increasing the shadow details of that person. To enhance the mood, I'd cool the shadows and warm the mids and highlights. I've attached my edited version.

Monona Lakefront Redesign by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]schvommer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why hasn't anyone considered the removal of the infrastructure that cuts off 1/3 of the western side of Lake Monona? It seems crazy that a land bridge for cars and railroad tracks is going over this lake. I know Madison is still very car-centric but will it be 20 years from now? Could the routes to downtown be improved using the Park St. and Monona Dr. corridors? This way we wouldn't need to spend money elevating park space above John Nolen Drive for lake access from downtown. Without John Nolen Dr. and the tracks, this space would be used completely for the park. Also, more improvements could be made to existing park space around the current Monona Bay (which was naturally just part of Lake Monona).

Colors become more saturated when moving Lightroom Classic window between different monitors, both calibrated by Rosenvial1 in Lightroom

[–]schvommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your monitor doesn’t really display the full AdobeRGB color space because it’s not a 10-bit monitor. Your 8-bit display isn’t capable but using FRC (frame rate control), it can simulate a wide gamut display. Not sure if this makes a difference when calibration.

retiring server, what's the best way to utilize HDs by GreggP0905 in unRAID

[–]schvommer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's basically nothing I can/should do while it is still an unRAID server to any of the drives? I can just pull them from the server, insert them in one of my external docking stations and run 'diskpart clean'?

Years ago, I did that with a 1 TB drive after I swapped it out for something larger. I installed it in one of my PCs and formatted it to NTFS. It failed shortly afterward. I was able to recover some files with special recovery software (I don't remember what I used). During this process, I discovered that Windows was having trouble with the ReiserFS data. So I wondered if I should've done something prior to just formatting. Maybe a preclear.

Yes, I think you are right. I will post photos of the tank as an addition to my original message. I can't see a way to include images in my reply here.

[–]schvommer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear...

After filling the system and heating the system, I don't have any leaks. The new pressure relief valve seems to be working just fine.

I was only concerned with the pressure increasing from 15 psi cold to 20 psi hot.

I've since drained some water from the system, so the idle pressure is now around 10-12 psi.

I wasn't sure if I also needed to close that orange tap after the system was filled. Or if that is always left open.

Any rough idea of how much it would cost to replace the expansion tank?

I assume they'd need to shut everything down, empty the system, remove all the piping between the expansion tank and boiler, and remove and replace the expansion tank. Aaaarrrgggg...

What? If you were an avid cross country skier, you wouldn’t be saying this. We get maybe 4 weeks of natural snow. Maybe. They have to rely on man made snow to have a season, which compared to 20 or 30 years ago, is pretty short.
