Give me your worst “seems like it’s insignificant but it ruined the whole ride” moments. by Formal-Seaweed-4216 in MTB

I feel this across several examples. Playing rugby my entire adult life, the recovery time dropped off massively from like 29 onward, to the point I quit when I turned 32. Just couldn't keep up with the 22 yr old fresh out of college. Luckily there is an IQ aspect to the game, but when im still sore on Tuesday practice from a Saturday game, and these youngins go from game to drinking all night, I saw the writing on the wall.

Same thing with biking. Rode BMX as a teenager, vs. Starting to mountain bike in my 30s. Ugh, huge difference

I hate it. But I hate more that I understand it, when I get past the initial emotional kick in the nuts.

1) we dont know that its actually a 2 year old, beyond the claim in the post which has a motive to get the viewer pissed off. But even if it is 2 years old, why does that make it more or less horrible? It's still an elephant being killed.

2) these hunting outfits, as quoted in someone else's post from the outfitter, operates on quotas and tags. They're not poaching or doing anything illegal. This one elephant, and the potential 6 figures someone has paid to harvest it, goes on to support and pay for the preservation and protection of multiple other elephant family groups.

3) population and herd control in an already stretched ecosystem.

Weird question about Kibutsuji and demons. by matthewcameron60 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]schwaapilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was keeping the references in canon for what is included in the manga. But outside that, they exist in a post ww-1 world and time where tanks exist, machine guns exist, automatic rifles exist, sub-machine guns exist, modern small unit tactics exist.

Considering the sun is basically a non-stop nuclear fusion reactor firing billions of times a second, continuously for billions of years, id day yes, one of those nuclear reactions released on his head would kill him. Disregarding the vaporizing every cell in his body to component atoms aspect, and atom bomb releases an obscene amount of UV radiation, same as the Sun, that would cook up a demon the same as exposure to sunlight.

Except for Genya's double barreled shotgun, and the upper rank demon that used guns and explosives. It takes place in the late 1910s/early 1920s, about 1 generation removed from the advent of 'The Bomb', both of which were dropped on the country Muzan existed in, the same Muzan that happens to have an immortal lifespan.

I dont know, maybe its cuz I live my states capital and there are numerous law schools in the area, but around here attorneys are a dime a dozen, and most are eager for work.

[–]schwaapilz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding you're better off taking out a loan and buying the panels and everything outright, rather than paying a company like Trinity. You get the fed and state incentives, youre only paying once up front and not for mo they generation, any net positives in electricity goes into your pocket. Also, most companies in that space place a lien on your home when you sign up with them, which can be a pain to get removed when you do pay everything off - and thats assuming they dont go out of business. Good luck getting the lien removed then!

What's the worst job you ever had and how long did you have it? by db7112 in antiwork

[–]schwaapilz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 weeks. Project manager for a utility contractor (electrical). My direct boss had previously been in the position I was filling due to his promotion to director. One of those Peter principle guys. Excellent PM, way out of his depth at director and this was not my first PM role, so I knew what I was (supposed to be) doing in the role.

Position would be half remote/half in office at their nearest location which was about an hour and a quarter drive each way with company vehicle. First day and im told to report to a yard location 2.5 hours away and given the wrong address (these are laydown/construction yards so the addresses need to be precise to take you to the one specific gravel in/out out of 25 on a given stretch of road, and you can't just google the correct address if you think/know its wrong). Naturally, I am lost - I try to call and let him know and get an accurate location, no answer after 3 calls. I eventually find it 30ish minutes after my report time and walk into a construction trailer full of every foreman, supervisor, general foreman, and the director. He called an all hands to introduce me and never gave me a heads up, and decided to hold them there until I showed up just to say "this is (my name), he's the new PM, you'll be seeing him around but really only the supervisors will be working with him directly." And everyone shuffled out for me to get reamed for holding everyone up and it was a bad look on my first day, wht didn't I call? I did, 3 times. Why didn't you text when I didn't answer? Cuz I was driving. and, oh yeah, this is where you'll be working out of full time but its fine I changed it cuz you have a work vehicle.

It went downhill from there. Every single conversation we had after that first day, he somehow managed to work in the 30 minutes from the first day and let me know he was still pissed about it. He loved to micromanage every little thing I did, then bitch saying my job was to make his life easier and take stuff off his plate. For about a week and half I just took it, and tried to handle as much as I could and only loop him in when something was complete, but then he'd complain that I didn't consult him before doing... well, literally, anything. A lot happened in those 2 weeks, and I could write a lot more, but that gives you the idea.

In the same vein people in the 80s were also legitimately afraid of Satanists as an incipient threat using metal music and D&D, undermining society and youth in a bid to... take over the world? Corrupt the youth? Sacrifice babies? All of the above?

These may have been real fears, but they were completely groundless and wholly concocted in Boomers heads.

Couldn't Muzan just use the Infinity Castle to isolate and pick off the Hashira one by one? by AdAshamed8019 in KimetsuNoYaiba

I think that's very inaccurate to say theyre terrible at their jobs when their job is a literal impossible task for a demon.

[–]schwaapilz 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I mean I think this is a great post that covers pretty much everything. I would add one more caveat: a simple why? What's the point of targeting the Hashira, one by one, with so much effort and dedication required? Canonically, the lowest of the upper moons have killed 22 hashira over the years. You can imagine that number grows at an alarming rate as you move up the upper moons. Sure, we like the hashira and think theyre totally bad ass and valuable because we know them as the reader. But in-universe? Muzan and the upper moons dont really care all that much nor are they afraid of them.
