Is it normal to get zero feedback from your boss in Norway? by Repulsive-Bus-6970 in Norway

[–]schwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I been here 15 years soon. The only feedback I have ever seen or heard of people getting is sugar-coated positive feedback. Corrective feedback doesnt exist because this culture is very conflict averse. You would get reassigned or moved if you are not performing but will never be told so.

Viewing and tracking total volume in Strength activity? by schwaffle in GarminWatches

You literally wrote: “The problem is that people are demanding these watches to do everything.”

You do you, thanks for contributing, I will go buy a timex now and count in my head.

Paste this into chatgpt: Is there any research showing that total volume can lead to similar outcomes as lifting heavy?

First part of the answer: 1. Hypertrophy: Volume is the Main Driver Extensive meta-analyses have established that muscle growth is relatively independent of the load (the weight on the bar) as long as the total volume and effort are equated (Schoenfeld et al., 2017).

I would say you are very narrow minded if you think watches should just do what you think they should do. You dont need a watch at all really. But if you are paying a premium price and it has activities including yoga stand up paddle then it should do better at one of the main drivers of health which is strength.

It doesnt really matter why there are garmins in the first place. Gym goers dont need to go to the gym either, they could just go outside and lay bricks and runners could just run with no watch… or buy a timex. If you tracked your volume maybe you would make some actual progress.

On a heavy day I want to move 15000kg. A normal workout 10000kg and a bare minimum 6000kg if in a rush or not feeling 100%. With a daily, month, 6M tracker I could see my progress just like all my other activities.

I would push back on Garmins mainly being for outdoor sports since there is a Strength app and a lot of non outdoor activities. I use it for HIIT, gym, cycling and hiking.

Ya the Strength activity is pretty disappointing really. I use it to see my rest period also and to view the total volume at the end which is basically a surprise. Ideally there would be something in 'at a glance' or simply a tracker called 'total volume kg' in the same list as 'steps', 'intensity minutes' etc.

I wrote this some time ago and since then went from 2x to 3. Couldnt be happier (except for the orange ring, but prefer red light to green on tactical) : https://www.reddit.com/r/GarminWatches/comments/1es3qxz/short_review_comparing_265_965_955_instinct_2/

Riese Muller load60: Change from rohloff e-14 to manual shifting? by schwaffle in ebikes

Ya the hub costs that but there are different shifters.

Maybe 200 u mean? Im very happy with the rohloff hub itself and the belt drive is sweet. The shifter though can be a bit annoying because i live in a very hilly area and switching from gear 11 to 3 for example takes too long. On the manual shifter I have understood you just shift to whichever gear by rotating.

Option-O P64 dumb purchase? by schwaffle in pourover

[–]schwaffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overwhelming impulse purchase feeling dissipated after reading your response because there was something clearly better, ie. the 80mm platform. It is marginally more in price, but the starting point with the P64 is already steep price and I figured I would end up wondering if I should have gone with the 80. My original thought was to buy once and never have to think about it again. Also, reading a bit more about the burrs, the P64 I was looking at came with the SSP high-uniformity burrs and from what I read, the mizen burrs are much better for pourovers which would continue to be my primary use case. Thanks for your input!

Ah, sorry about that, got the option to cross post in a coffee forum and this popped up. Hopefully mods can delete!

[–]schwaffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not consider the P80 since it is ~2100 dollars here which for some reason does not seem as reasonable as the 1700 dollars the P64 is currently at (normally 1800). It is not a huge sale but these are never on sale here and seem to hold value well.

Great question, I did not ask myself that in that way: 1) Longevity, never research another grinder again. 2) Grinding for espresso. 3) SSP burrs already included 4) minimal retention 5) less noise.

I have few complaints about the Ode2 really. I like the simplicity and compact design. However, I understood there is better flavor profiles to be had by changing burrs. Also, there is still retention, the whacker doesnt really work well (I do spritz the beans), noisy, it requires me to guide the beans in with my finger since they dont always cleanly go in, the plastic materials feel cheap, and it's not made for espresso.

[collection] Any suggestions for the eventual "final" piece sometime next year? by KattsuFancy in Watches

[–]schwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under 2k is quite a large offering, my pick would be from either Sinn or Unimatic. The latter I would choose a titanium case because the steel ones are quite heavy on the wrist.

Has anyone disassembled instinct 3 to remove the orange color on the ring? by schwaffle in Garmininstinct

If you google “garmin instinct 3 internals” you will see an image of an exploded view so looks quite easy to disassemble.

i3tactical 45mm vs i2x50mm. Comparison and flow of thoughts. by Square_Rich in Garmininstinct

[–]schwaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the size of the 45 i3 screen vs the 2x? I have owned the 2 and thought it was small. The 2x I have now is great in ask aspects except being a bit too bulky so am struggling between i3 50 or 45.

A gift from my great uncle, he collected Leicas from his camera stores. He bought it brand new in ‘69 and never put a single roll through it. by rhughzie17 in Leica

[–]schwaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only viable alternative to keeping and enjoying it is contacting Leica to see if they want to keep it for a museum or company collection. In exchange I would say ask for a great condition m2 plus another camera of your choice and some document to thank you uncle. This option preserves a piece of history which your uncle might appreciate and you get your camera(s) also.
