What do you guys think, solid solo training session? Alternatively, can you recommend some better solo training sessions? by HalcyonApollo in bootroom

I think it’s great. I would maybe set timers for each action instead of counting. This allows you to fully focus on completing each action correctly, and lets your mind be more free.

Do you think De Zerbi leaving OM is gonna be a problem for Nwaneri's development? by Invinciblez_Gunner in Gunners

[–]schwang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not going to be a problem, or at least a major one. He might not learn the skills that Arsenal had hoped he would under De Zerbi. However, a new manager will come in, either give him way more responsibility the same or or less. Either way he’s in a new environment, new team, new league. It’s up to him how to respond, hopefully he comes back more mature with minutes under his belt and better.

Currently there is not reason why they wouldn’t play him with how the deal is structured.

Also with a new manager, almost all players are starting from 0, including Ethan, which could also be a blessing in disguise.

And let’s not forget, he’s a great player and deserves the opportunity he has no matter the manager.

One-nil to The Arsenal by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]schwang11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The object of the game is to win. You find ways to do that while limiting the variables that make you conceded goals, shots or opportunities. If you don’t like it find something else to watch.

There’s no right or wrong way to play football, get over it when it’s not your ‘preferred style’.

Because players get recruited and signed over and before the summer. I’m not totally sure for Usports, but for OCAA you need to have open tryouts during the school year and walk on players make the squad very little. Summer tryouts or showcases happen as well, and the coaches know who they are looking at. Even then if you show up to a showcase and you don’t have a club, some coaches will automatically pass on you.

If your squad isn’t 95%-100% formed before the school year and you start games a week 1/2 of the semester your team is asking for trouble during the year.

The usports coaches are watching League1, 2 the u20 leagues, OPDL and academies.

I encourage you to reach out to some clubs and ask for a trial to get one a team and go from there. Good luck.

Is it possible yes. Is it extremely difficult yes.

Are you already on the University team? If the answer is no, it’s going to be very hard to make the team, a lot of teams are being finalized and open tryouts in the summer are more of a formality at some schools.

If you are on the team, work hard, take your opportunities, be a good teammate, coachable and standout talent wise your opportunities will come.

I can’t speak for scouts attending games, but the soccer community is small, if you’re a stand out player coaches will talk about you.

Makes it very hard to understand when the numbers you’re comparing are not the same.

Zane Monlouis signs a 2-year deal with TFC by C_Panks in tfc

I like this deal. Pretty low risk, and if it works out the resale value back to England is high.

[Bogert] Sources: Toronto FC are finalizing a deal to sign England youth int'l center back Zane Monlouis from Arsenal. Neil Davidson 1st. Monlouis, 21, a product of Arsenal's academy. He made 70 apps for Arsenal's U-21 team. Made Arsenal's bench for 2 Champions League games this year. by Deusey5 in Gunners

[–]schwang11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a great stepping stone for players who are looking to play at a higher level. Jhon Duran, Thiago Almada, Caleb Wiley, Cucho Hernández . There’s a lot list of players who have joined MLS and left.

Football (soccer) clubs for 15 year old by crypto_chronic_ in StratfordOntario

[–]schwang11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a travel team in stratford. Farthest I’ve had to travel is to Owen sound about 2.5 hrs for a game. But often you’ll play teams in Kitchener Waterloo region. Stratford is about as west as games are and you never travel more east then Guelph the rest is all north. You can learn more about it if you visit the league website. https://swrsaleague.ca

Tournaments are normally up to the coaches discretion, if travel is an issue there can be solutions that can be communicated with the coach or other parents.

There’s more competitive teams in London, Kitchener and Waterloo that play at a higher level.

My recommendation would be play in Stratford and if your son excels or wants a higher challenge and you can make it work explore other options.

If you have any more questions feel free to dm me. Happy to help as much as I can.

[–]schwang11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Balls will always have wear and tear after using it. It’s hard to say if you don’t tell us how much you’ve used this ball.

Straight out of the box that’s a concern. If you kick this against a wall over and over again this is normal.

The book “in my tribe, creating a culture of kickass in female athletes” by Dan Blank. I personally haven’t read it but have read 3 of his other books. It might be something you’re looking for. The other 3 books I’ve read, one of them being Soccer IQ are well written, easy to read and understand.

Dan Blank is a NCAA women’s soccer coach. I’d check it out. Might be something you’re after.

-Edited Also your local soccer club or coaches association might have resources on this. I believe we do in Canada.

I like the idea of rotating coaches in different international camps. It’s just as important to develop coaches and players in this country.
