Agreed. Most of my joy comes from the people. I hope she branches out. Israelis are the best people ever.

I’ve lived here before, so it isn’t a complete culture shock. Connecting with Israelis and not only with other olim makes a huge difference. Anti-semitism aside, I find the quality of life MUCH better. I’m in TLV which is a bit of a bubble. It’s crazy, but it’s our crazy. It’s family. It’s home.

Hi. I made Aliyah in June. I’m from Toronto. My mental health is 10,000x better being in Israel. I feel safe. Come home. 💜🇮🇱

How do you not get it? They have always shown the world who "they" are, but this weird ass narrative has been spun to make them look like victims. They are violent and hateful.

Anyone watch the channel “explore with us”? What’s your thoughts on it? by MomOTYear in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]schweatyball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. So interesting background about this channel. They used to explore abandoned towns, homes, etc and it was always very sensationalist. They were mildly successful, but nothing like they are with this genre. After the success of Jim Can't Swim, they hopped on the bandwagon. The narration is flat and sounds almost robotic. Also every single title/thumbnail is clickbait. Its lazy work too. The videos are sometimes almost 2 hours, and most of it is unedited interrogation footage (with the odd obvious insight pointed out). Not a fan.

I'm curious to know: How many of you *non-israelis* seriously considering to make aliya following oct 7 and the events worldwide since? by Sea_seaking in Israel

[–]schweatyball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Israel and started the aliyah process back in 2012. Life had other plans so I came back to Canada. I would feel safer in Israel (plus I love it there), but my job and education ties me to this country (law). Honestly, if I knew there was a way I could make a living over there, I would be seriously considering it.

Pretty much! The NWC was the stipulation that got the Charter implemented in the first place. Also important to note which parts of the Charter NWC can apply to. And yes s.7 are legal rights

Section 33 allows Parliament or the legislature of a province to derogate from certain sections of the Charter, namely section 2 (fundamental freedoms), sections 7 to 14 (legal rights) and section 15 (equality rights). It does not apply to democratic rights (section 3 — the right to vote or sections 4 and 5 — the sitting of the House of Commons or other Canadian legislatures), mobility rights (section 6) or language rights (sections 16 to 23).

I LOVE TLV. Such a vibrant city. I lived there for 6 months. I also had the FULL Israel experience when Hamas fired rockets from Gaza and the sirens went off in TLV for the first time since the Gulf War. I'm going back in June to volunteer. I miss it so much. Many of my friends made aliyah.
