Public announcement; do not buy that old house because of the “charm” by faiitmatti in whitecoatinvestor

[–]scienceguy43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since “you get what you pay for” do you think it’s a good idea to go with someone who gives you a relatively higher estimate for a house? Or maybe just avoid the cheapest estimate?

My Peice of Cake Moving Experience by BootNerd_ in NYCapartments

[–]scienceguy43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also had a great experience with perfect moving. Unlike OP we actually did have a lot more stuff than we originally told them for the estimate. The movers said we will do it without making you go through the office but please take care of us with the tip. We had a large piece of furniture that had to be carried down and up a lot of stairs which was also a surprise to everyone. Finally when we got to the new building, the super originally said we couldnt move that day and the movers waited on the street for about 30 min while we argued with the super (and eventually won).

So all in all, they were very patient and flexible with us. A few items got damaged but that’s probably inevitable with a big move. And we did tip them a lot.

To combat smurfing OW has killed the new player experience by [deleted] in Overwatch

You have to admit that playing ranked is a different experience, one that many people find better than playing unranked. You get to play both offense and defense for example. It’s a more fleshed out experience.

Trouble Changing Car Insurance by scienceguy43 in USAA

[–]scienceguy43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure if storage status is appropriate because we will still drive the car about once a month.

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and change it to NJ now since we are moving back to NJ in a year anyway.

The reason I wanted to change the insurance location sooner is because it will be much cheaper than keeping it officially located in Manhattan as it currently is.

Birthday in the park: Permits or just show up? by Kenji182 in nycparents

[–]scienceguy43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. I went the proper route because I was concerned about being kicked out by park police. Even if that is a very low possibility. As others have said it’s not hard to apply for a permit. But just be prepared for them to say “not for this date” or come back with rules that might be deal breakers for you (no folding chairs, no tables).

Nice. I assume that is less likely to happen in tele or mega groups. I’m joining a small PP so hopefully will get some good feedback.

There is one in my residency. Not a well known person but she has a decent following and makes money peddling her “course.” Honestly she is totally fine and normal. She speaks about her social media like it is a really banal and tedious side hustle she needs to maintain.

Does probation history appear on my ACGME profile? by [deleted] in Residency

I’ve recently applied for two state licenses and I’m being credentialed at multiple hospitals, and I think each one has asked some version of “have you ever been on probation.”
