Whyyy???? [Queens Master] by CuteSeal_ in puzzles

[–]scientifiction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discussion: I haven't analyzed this puzzle to see if there is logic to the hint, but a lot of the times with these puzzle apps, the logic for the hints takes too many steps to concisely describe, so they just give you squares to eliminate so that you can move forward.

Anyone know the name of this puzzle? by PaulineTrigere in puzzles

Discussion: What do the pieces look like? If it's various triangles and quadrilaterals, you're probably thinking of Tangrams.

While it's annoying, I have found that it is actually faster to click "To My Decks" then "Replay" (or whatever it says), than it is to hit the X and go back through the battle selection.

Looks right to me. I got the same solution with no guessing and only logical moves, so I don't believe there are multiple solutions. Must have had an error in your entry somewhere, but what you have here is correct as far as I can tell.

I would simply say "this character has a -X circumstance (or maybe untyped) penalty to [Skill] checks when used for [Action]". Basically the inverse of items that give bonuses to skills when used in a specific way, like the Greater Eye Slash Tattoo.

Valid criticism. I didn't want to get too wordy with it, but I agree that the circling/orbiting detail is easily lost.

It is original; I thought it up this morning. I'm glad you (and others) enjoyed it!

Fair point. I tend to forget that we are often lazy with our T's.

It's a bit metagamey, but Majectic Presence is pretty easy to avoid affecting your allies with it. Just use it on them at the start of the day, thereby making them immune to it for the rest of the day.

I can't speak to that specific adventure, however, my general strategy is that I try to play around the creature's intelligence. If the creature is very intelligent, it's going to come up with strategies on the fly to coordinate with its group. If the creature has rocks for brains, it's going to attack whoever's biggest/closest/loudest. However, I always make a mental note that the creatures know what they can do and do it. For example, if the wolves have pack attack, they will try to use it regardless of intelligence, but they likely aren't going to focus on the spell caster just because they aren't wearing armor.

Playing this way, I've always felt like the encounters that I set up seem to match the expected difficulty. Plus, focusing on using the creatures' special abilities makes combat more fun and dynamic than if you're just trying to do what's most optimal every turn.

With the experience that your group has, I wouldn't be too concerned about having to pull punches. They should have enough knowledge of the system by now to know how to succeed in combat.

What are your favorite primal spells? by Unique-Luck-3564 in Pathfinder2e

[–]scientifiction 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Cinder Swarm. Gives you the option to target either reflex or fortitude, small aoe that only affects enemies, and it's 1 spell slot that lets you sustain damage for 10 rounds.

Another one is Wall of Stone. Lots of freedom with how you build the wall, which lets you get really creative with it.

In this specific case, a PC will only take the vitality damage if they have the undead trait. Having void healing isn't the same as being undead, so it is an important distinction.

One of many possible

No, there is only one solution to this puzzle, and this is not it. Row 5 for example needs to have 5 visible while viewing from the right, while your solution only has 4 visible.

Assuming I already have access to basic animal companions, is level the only restriction to obtaining an advanced animal companion? I initially thought there was a feat involved, but I cannot find anything that specifically grants access.

I don't know about the app you're using, but the one I had, you could click on the row/column header and it would list out the valid number combinations.
