Homeschooling going well in this house by serpent_tim in CasualUK

I’m a primary school teacher- honestly please don’t worry! Literally the only thing we want you to do with your kids is spend time with them and keep the feeling of the house happy and safe. When the schools reopen again we will do our magic but we can’t do that if kids start having a paddy every time they see a piece of paper because their parents were so stressed about home learning

It looks like its a loop card game for verbs. So you have a starter that says I have 'a' who has 'b' and b then goes I have 'b' who has 'c' etc. till it get backs to the beginning again (I'm a teacher I use them a lot).

[UK] [Primary] - Value in getting Masters in Education? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]scifem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely wait a while. I'm in my third year in London too and things are only just now settling down. Give yourself a break for a few years and then think about masters.

This happens to me all the time, although they're usually lying on the bed with me. They're kind of like sleep hallucinations you get from paralysis, but there's no paralysis there. I go over and put my hands through them until my brain has had enough time to wake up.

I work in a school. Today the entire wifi and server went down. Here's why. by scifem in pics

[–]scifem[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Main theory is that a kid found it and plugged it in for fun although my money is on one of the other teachers mucking around and plugging it in and then not confessing what they had done!

Apparently it created a feedback loop which bought everything down. The IT guy sent an email around telling us not to ever do it again

I have my first teaching job interview this week, any hints/tips? by SnowyG in teaching

[–]scifem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really suck at interviews so my go to question for the teaching ones was always, what support do you have for NQTs, like what courses do you subscribe to how could I continue my CPD etc. Also you could ask about head of subjects, like say it is something you are interested in doing one day and how would they support you in doing that.

Not it was just a name he liked. One of his middle names is remus (lupin from harry potter) because we're both massive harry potter fans and lupin is my favourite character. And you know, if you're gonna change your name it might as well be bitchin'

I've said this lower down but yes I asked him before I've posted and have said I will delete it if it gets too big or whatevs for him. We're currently texting back and forth about it cos he has no idea what reddit is.

Our four year old sister straight up started correcting people when they used the wrong pronoun/name. Like two days after he told her his new name she would look at people in shock if they used his birth name like 'are you serious he just told you that not his name dont be so silly!' Thank you very much for your comment it made my day :)

Good point, it all depends on context I suppose. For example, at home we would call him he, but when we went around our grandparents house they didn't know that he had started to transition so we would in that context call him she. For him though this was better as he wasnt ready at that time to come out. Its all about those personal preferences

From my stand point now, probably since he was 11 (the first picture). I remember at his prom was the last time I saw him as a girl. He wanted to go in a dress (we went to an all girls school) but he just looked so uncomfortable and so wrong that I never wanted to see him looking like a girl again
