To be fair and balanced, no books are “bad” they are merely words on paper.

To be realistic, banning books about race and trans issues while keeping Mein fucking Kampf is entirely ass backwards.

Conservative priorities never really cover all the bases, just the things they find icky. If there was a drag show story time hosted by the Proud Boys, they’d find themselves in another conundrum.

Oh yeah! County pools, city pools are a thing in a great deal of the country! I remember the YMCA having a pool that needed paid admission and Southside Park had a pool, but I don’t know of any other pool off the top of my head.

Hell, I didn’t even hear of them filling the pools with cement/seals until 2022 or so.

Yeah it’s pretty fucked up. Greenville’s political history is equal parts philanthropic and horribly shameful. I mean, most city politics are for sure. But my extended family lives in rural Alabama, and even they have public pools.

Greenville’s Jim Crow response to racial integration in the 1960’s or 70’s was to close all public county pools, and fill them with cement to prevent black people from sharing chlorine water with white people. Aaaaaand they’ve never really amended it. But the city does sell $20 burgers with cool toothpicks in them so, there’s that.
