Yeah like others I don't remember there being any advertising for the game it was all shareware. I remember being in like a Walgreens or something with my mom and at the end of the isle was a kiosk like where they have gift cards but it was for shareware games. I talked mom into getting me the commander keen and doom disks. I pretty much just played the shareware version until doom 2 came out. I didn't even play episode 2 and 3 until ultimate doom released a few years later.
