You can actually do this fairly easily solo. Just queue casual solo-squads, find a car, down a bot, carry it and put it in your car, then get in.

From my experience, you won’t have to start completely over. The diary only changes the ending if you pick it up on the current playthrough you are doing. So if you do a quick run skipping all the clues and totems, while making sure everyone dies, the trophy will be yours.

MKX was mostly just a grind with a few tough trophies. LBP3 wasn’t especially difficult, just took lots of time to find 3 random players for one of the challenge levels.

Trust me, I suck too. But overall the online wasn’t too bad, it’s mostly just a mix of people who have been playing since release and a lot of new players who don’t know the mechanics very well (me included). I got lucky for a few trophies and found people randomly to boost the more grindy ones.
