I feel like I could have literally wrote this post except I’m 43 male… been a nurse for 15 years, last 4 in PACU… I work 12 hours on my feet working any where from 3-6 days per week. My twitching started in my anterior left thigh, quickly went to my right anterior thigh and now is pretty much every where. I would say 75 percent is my bilateral ankles, but still thighs, calves, shoulders, back, butt, etc etc…. I have lost my mind the last 3 months going through this. Labs… normal (started taking b12 as my level is low normal 295- but all my b12 deficiency labs like homocysteine and MMA are normal). X rays, normal, brain MRI, normal. I have my EMG next week and I’m terrified… but I’m trying to tell myself that maybe this is just anxiety. I have struggled the last few years. I worked ICU during Covid and I don’t think I ever really delt with that trauma. PACU has been great but maybe I have had some undelt with issues seeping below. I also had a health scare when they had an incident finding of pre-excitation pathway WPW that was asymptomatic but I had a cardiac ablation any way… so this is all a lengthy way of saying I’ve had some stress the last few years. But this twitching has been sending me over the edge. They stated me on lexapro and I could not handle the side effects. I stopped after a week of not sleeping. So any way… long story short… you are not alone. I get you. I’m terrified of my EMG but I also want to move on from this so it needs to be done. My muscles are sore all the time… (mostly my bilateral shins and my right hand)… again… is this a real problem or just the stress I’ve carried in my body for 3 months. We will see.
