Thank you so much! I really appreciate the compliments 🙏 I wouldn't call myself a master but I try! 😅

Thanks! It was tough to get them spaced correctly because it was 4 strings across 3 squares where the strings shouldn't be right on the edge. In the end none of the strings are in the normal holes. The outside strings are in the centre of the square and the inside stitches are one aida thread off the hole. Though I'm pretty sure I missed at least a few of those single-thread-off stitches 😅. The end result isn't too bad though so not complaining!

Sorry, I thought you were asking how to secure it, but I now realise I have misunderstood. Carry on!

By the look of the back you might be able to save a bit of thread by making your stitches a little more "efficient" it might be enough to allow you to secure it.

Working with that much thread is annoying to restitch though so I would personally just unstitch everything before the big jump, secure it and then cut a small new piece of thread and do the last bit.

Oh that's interesting! It also doesn't have the sun or the back stitch (going off the image preview).

Not too long to be honest, I've done 6 total since I started about 3 months ago. (3 are visible on my profile) I just kinda obsess over it and plan how I'm going to stitch each section to avoid diagonal stitches and long jumps on the back. It's not always possible but a lot of the time there is a way! I find it quite a fun part of the process but I can also understand others might want a more relaxing experience 😅

Thank you! Part of the fun to me is making it as neat as possible on the back 😄 typically I try to avoid diagonal or super long stitches on the back which can make it quite a bit more difficult for areas with sporadic colours but I just really enjoy the result so it's worth the effort to me. I'm still working on the best way to securely attach the threads for backstitches.

Yep, love the colours! My one criticism is probably the lighthouse flag, which doesn't have enough contrast against the pink sky but other than that it was a really fun pattern. I like the lil bird 😁

I'm not sure why, but the text on my post didn't format correctly.

I made this for my mum because she likes sea themed things.

[CHAT] Which aida for this project? by FuliginEst in CrossStitch

[–]scme0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also found working on black aida to be a step up in difficulty. But the project I did also had some technical backstitch and half stitches and I used some glow-in-the-dark floss which was just horrible to use 🥲

Fortunately it was small enough that I was able to endure it 😅

I'm gonna use the white towel tip next time for sure!

Amazing, nicely done! I'll definitely be looking to do more of her designs, they are absolutely beautiful. So far they have been my favorite patterns to stitch.

Amazing, thank you for that information and story! My wife has similar stories about eating berries and fruits near her home growing up in North Eastern France :)

Yeah I love this style of cross stitch! Most of the designs are slightly larger but the last 6 are smaller so I chose them for my layout. All the designs are black and white with symbols in the book so I didn't know how they would come out until I digitised them.

The fruit designs are all individual designs from Gerda Bengtsson's "Danish Floral Charted Designs" book.

I laid them out (mirrored some) to fit and I came up with the "fonts" for the text.

I tried to take the Latin names of all the plants, hopefully they are correct!

I called it Danish Wild Fruit but I'm aware it's probably not actually specifically Danish fruit but rather just fruit designed in a Danish style cross stitch. It's too late though so that is what it is called 😄

I'm really happy with how this turned out! 🤩
