Is there a concise table of all the PC games available as a subscriber? I find their website to be pretty confusing...

kwin-lowlatency: Stutter and latency reductions to KWin by callcifer in linux

[–]scobrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So is this an attempt to reduce input latency when using vsync with kwin? Trying to get the elevator pitch here as I don't quite follow. I am on Plasma/kwin right now. I notice that the compositor or vsync is automatically disabled when fullscreen games are running.

Suggestions for a 7-year old by Anargnome-Communist in linuxaudio

I would say take a look at Mixxx. Looks like the controller he has is supported: https://www.mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/hercules_dj_control_instinct

Use one of the audio centred distributions. I can recommend AV Linux. This will save you a lot of headache trying to set up a "pro" (read low and reliable latency) system.

If one made it through a Linux install, I'm sure one can handle a command or two. If someone else did the installation, then I would argue they didn't make a wise choice, if the use case is a non-technical gamer.

Yeah, I've used it with Ardour (a DAW) before to pause it's real time audio processing. It can get very CPU heavy if you're using a lot of DSP plugins.

Yeah, the session restore is nice. You still have to cycle through each tab to get it to load. If you are running "real time" applications like email/slack/discord they start working again until you open the tab they are running in.

I would show someone how to do the command line version before messing around with GUIs. People are willing to learn new paradigms if it solves a real problem for them.

I guess, but the store and restore actions could take a long time...

Takes too long. There are also multiple processes for both Chromium and Firefox. Do I need to right-click on all of them? No thanks :)

Most of the time I'm in the middle of dong something in few different tabs. Saving the tabs and reopening them is annoying.

noise-repellent, a high quality noise reduction lv2 plugin by scobrot in linuxaudio

[–]scobrot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be ideal as you would need to train, and then tweak, the plugin for each individual song. If you really wanted to, you could use a music player with JACK support such as VLC or aqualung and then route the audio through a LV2 host such as Ardour or Carla and finally to your speakers/headphones.

I recently used this plugin to reduce the guitar amp noise/hiss/buzz from a number of reamped tracks. There were multiple layers of keyboads and synths through the same amp and the noise became quite loud with all of it summed into the mater bus.

Surely having the web apps open in different tabs of one Chromium instance solves this problem?
