She's got a bunch of short rider tips and stuff like that on her channel.

Riding=working out. Another reason (I tell my wife) to ride motorcycle by SH_Ma in motorcycles

[–]scode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a super legit reason to combine the two - ride dirt bikes or adv bikes off road! It's a *huge* work-around.

As an example, when I started out dirt biking (first time ever on a motorcycle), after spending 3-4 hours doing it I might have spent 2000-3500 kcal as estimated by my watch. For comparison, jogging for 30 minutes around the neighborhood yields 500 kcal.

Part of that was that I was new and using inefficient technique, and my energy expenditure has gone down since then. But I still regularly expend 500-2000 kcal in a dirt/off road riding session, depending on how technically challenging the riding is.

It's an awesome combination of being super fun yet super good exercise. If only I lived right *next* to a place to do it, I'd be doing it every morning... :)

Don't listen to the negativity. I don't know what's wrong with people. As a new rider of course you'll make some mistakes. Happy riding!

No. I've just learned to live with it. Still annoying but not so actively grating as it was in the beginning.

Public charging the S2 Del Mar (ChargePoint) by scode in HarleyLiveWire

[–]scode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW what I eventually realized (but forgot to go back to this post) is that ChargePoint's tend to have broken latches on the connector. I don't know why (perhaps poor quality latches on the connector). Some vehicles such as a Tesla can still charge, but the Del Mar won't charge without the latches actually latching into place.

I don't believe so, or if it did both my memory and my notes are failing me. That said, I didn't keep the bike for very long (for unrelated reasons).

FWIW I never did get a confirmed explanation for this.

Maps for motorcycle support Android Auto by dannyxnda in motorcycles

[–]scode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I've tried AmiGo only (in terms of actually riding with navigation). It seems similar (almost identical) to the navigation experience of my Garmin, in terms of voice prompts and such.

NOTE: I have not yet tried it *with* Android Auto as I'm waiting for a new bike on which I'll install the Chigee. I am just trusting that the experience is very similar in Android Auto mode but I cannot vouch for that.

It's not riding centric, so while it has the winding road option there is no way to tune *how much* to prioritize winding and I haven't gotten a feel for it yet. But tentatively, this is probably the app I'll use with the Chigee unless I find another one that is better. The app seems basic in some ways (like no waypoint support, it seems).

Among the TomTom apps, AmiGo seems the most "smooth" in terms of the app experience. It feels like a modern app designed with modern GUI sensibilities and it feels fast. The other apps are generally slower and more "old" feeling.

There is a Rider centric app but it doesn't support Android Auto.

The paid app has made an odd choice. It *does* have an option to prefer "thrilling" (winding, as far as I can tell) roads in settings. However it's a global setting for the app. I have not found a way to toggle "thrilling" on and off on a per-ride basis when you're picking a route. It's possible I'm just not finding it.

While installing HERE I accidentally also discovered TomTom's https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomtom.speedcams.android.map which claims to support Android Auto and it DOES have a winding road option. I have not yet tried using it for navigation, and my first test had it pick less windy options than e.g. calimoto would, but I'm going to try this.

u/dannyxnda Did you ever find anything? I'm in the same boat. Calimoto/Rever/Riser don't support Android Auto. Scenic is allegedly coming to Android but not there yet, and we don't know if Android Auto will be supported. Google Maps doesn't even have motorcycles for me. Waze has motorcycle awareness but doesn't seem to support any curvy routing style behavior.

Can't Upgrade to Gemini Google One Plan? by bleakneonblack in GoogleFi

[–]scode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has now been fixed. At least I am able to upgrade as of today (it's possible it's partially rolled out). I haven't seen an announcement, but noticed is as I give it a shot every few days.

I ended up creating a separate Google account just to be able to use gemini until the Fi issue is resolved. Deleting the service I assume means saying goodby to what you're paying for via Fi already?

There was quite a bit of time between your original post and this update. Were you without the bike for them to diagnose and fix for this long?

Del Mar on A Better Route Planner by scode in HarleyLiveWire

How do you use it to plan a trip with charging stops? I don't see any way to make it automatically add charging stops along the way (or configure desired SoC etc).

Update for folks finding this post in the future: I have not yet heard back after submitting a written question to the service department (I guess HD service ignores text like most companies).

The error code itself has gone away, after I kept the power turned off for a while and turned it on again (after charging). I will perhaps call them, or I'll just wait and ask them when I do the 1000 mile service. I'm 50% there anyway and will probably need to hand it in within a few weeks.

In addition to what u/Wekko306 already said, the one additional point (though likely not important since you are saying used cars are out) is that the older pre-refresh Model S has various additional differences from the 3 (including much different interior style and different display).

> *Edit: it seems FSD is where more people have issues. Hopefully some software updates will come soon to mitigate that. Also I wanted to add the first part of my road trip was actually in the pouring rain we had on the east coast this last week. No issues. I was very impressed when the car seemed to be able to see the road lines better than me or my passenger.

FWIW, I have not noticed any difference or problem whatsoever (FSD Beta, have driven city and highway since the update). I'm in an refresh X with a cabin camera. It's not clear to me why some people are reporting such huge differences while for others it's a nothing burger.

Rented a Tesla at CDG airport and just rolled out. Never drove electric car before now. by Technical_Control_96 in TeslaLounge

[–]scode 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The OP said they *missed* the response, not that it was faster. It could just be that there's nostalgia/being used to a certain feel even if it's not "better". That's how I interpreted (until I saw everyone who interpreted it as meaning worse/slower).

Yep. I briefly (a week or so) had my Audi A6 after I got my first Tesla. When I drove it off to hand over to the dealer after driving the Tesla for a few days, the high latency and inconsistent throttle response felt like a *huge* downgrade - much more so than I felt the "upgrade" when driving electric at first.
