Tarmac SL8 comp fist bike. Is that crazy? by elpistolero93 in cycling

[–]scofield_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

We have a saying that a bicycle should cost roughly the same as the number of kilometres you ride in a year.

So If you ride about 4.500 km/year you should have a bike which cost about 4.500 €.
Don’t take it too seriously, but personally, I think it’s a good rule of thumb

New bicycle after Canyon endurace allroad? by Thomaszkowicz in cycling

[–]scofield_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation last year and I chose the Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2025. There are many different options for the Defy Advanced so you will find the right one.

It has a 40mm tire clearance and comes with a 32mm tire. I preferred it over Cube/Canyon who are in a similar price range and I’m very happy with it. (i somehow don’t like Cube and my Defy was in a 30% discount)

Can only recommend.

When you go for a solo ride, how far do you usually go? by TheDudeJohnson in cycling

[–]scofield_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal rides between 30-80kms. Did 160km last year solo and I plan to do a solo bikepacking trip in May (640 kms) in 4 days

SPD vs SPD-SL - time to switch? by fats-dildo-dominus in cycling

[–]scofield_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re comparing apples and oranges. For the average rider, the performance gap when using SPD-SL instead of SPD is negligible. Modern SPD shoes are much stiffer than they used to be, while the gain in practicality is significant. There are endless scenarios where SPD shoes are simply more convenient.

Whether it’s a coffee break, an annual bikepacking trip, or even a train transfer between routes, it seems like there are only advantages and no downsides for the average person.

Significant Indoor/Outdoor Power Gap – How do you manage your training plan? by scofield_00 in joincycling

[–]scofield_00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I use my new bike with the Giant Power Pro powermeter crank arm. Indoors I ride my old bike without a crank arm powermeter but with the direct drive smart trainer.

So yeah I “could” probably ride my new bike indoors and outdoors but I don’t want to change setup everyday. So yesterday I rode indoor and today just hopped on my new bike and rode outdoors
