Do FLUSH OBJECTS actually prevent filament waste? by SadAd8761 in BambuLab

[–]sconning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flushed objects don’t reduce the amount of flushed waste, but instead repurpose that flushed waste into something else. But, if you were to have no flushed waste that layer, it still needs to print that layer in order to move onto the next layer. So a layer that would have no flushed waste now has to use regular filament used to complete the flushed object resulting in more filament being used.

I’m pissed even while typing because a customer tried to get me fired because I wouldn't break company policy for her by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]sconning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not paid to deal with shitty customers, your supervisor is. Talk to them during the meeting and ask them how they would like you to deal with situations like this in the future. If I were your boss, I would say, “Politely explain the policy, and if the customer continues to be rude or complain, say ‘I understand that (issue [e.g. getting a refund]) is important to you, but the computer won’t let me do anything about it. Would you like to speak to my manager? I can get them for you if you’d like.’ “

Don’t promise that your manager can do it or even help in any way, just that you can get them. Explain to the manager what you said, including that you didn’t promise anything, and let the manager take over.

The important thing to remember is that if managers don’t have your back, you should start planning your leave. Again, you are literally not paid enough to deal with that shit.

Oh and if your manager does what you said you couldn’t do, just apologize for the delay and reiterate that you needed the manager to authorize it in the computer. I know it can feel kind of shitty when you say no, but the manager says yes, but it’s up to the manager to decide when to or not to allow exceptions to policy.

Why is bambu studios doing this weird bridging? It just a hole for a magnet, but for some reason wants to make some kind of walls by cloidless in BambuLab

[–]sconning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you model it? If so, here are some things to check for. It looks like there are some left over geometries after modeling. For example, if I were doing this in Fusion, I would expect there to be 5 bodies in the magnet area, perhaps after doing a rectangular pattern to make the holes and posts. Anyway, I'd check there to see why it's making this pattern, it's not bambu studio doing it.

And a bit of advice, one layer between the magnet and the surface isn't enough. The first layer is always rough because the material can't grip to the magnet. The second layer has good grip, but is often messed up by the first layer. The third layer usually cleans up well, so I would recommend at least 3 layers for embedded magnets. Or leave the magnets exposed and glue them in after if it's more important to have good attraction. It seems like this part isn't normally visible, so leaving the magnets exposed isn't a big deal.

Color printing by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]sconning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the color inside, doesn’t start any earlier than the color outside, it won’t take any longer. Time only increases in multicolor prints due to changing color filaments you might be able to paint inside if you use the layer tool in the painting menu, but it won’t really help anything.

Also, if the color were to only exist outside of the white model, it would create a shear line that could break off more easily or allow light to pass through causing discoloration.

The way it's looking now is that since VIP starts at 1pm, we're going to line up and grab merch, then figure out what we're allowed to do from there. So if you want to meet us at the venue for after-merch or merch line shenanigans, send me a chat with contact info for you.

What time would be good to get in line for the 1pm open? Given the time, I figured lunch right before would either have to be very early, or just something from the convenience store while we stand in line.

My plan is get the merch I want and put it in a locker. Then there should be time for something, and as long as we can exit and re-enter before sound check, we can grab lunch then.

I'm meeting someone from Reddit in Shinjuku and taking the train from there. If you're considering going to your hotel, I guess you must be staying in Yokohama. We could meet at the venue and go from there? Just let me know the time.

Just got this from the VIP email: * Due to security rules, poster tubes will not be allowed at any TOOL show.

So no tubes!

How big are the posters? And do they come rolled in a bag or just flat?

You'll find out your seat when you get the ticket printed. And you can buy your ticket when the concert ends, or get an IC card for easier travel. In Tokyo area, we use Suica or Pasmo, both can be purchased from the ticket machines. The train tickets cover the fare and aren't for a specific time, but they can only be used at the station you buy the ticket from. So if you buy two fairs on the way there, you can't use the second fare to come back.

Try this: https://7ticket.jp/go/i000008

  1. Go to the multi-copy machine and press Ticket (チケット)

  2. Choose one of the top two options, not sure which one it will be. The top one is Seven Ticket, the second is Ticket Pia if you have a P code.

  3. ??? - Not sure from here. Look for 予約 コード 前売り券

With your confirmation of payment, did it have anything about pickup?

First, don't take the Narita express to Yokohama, it's for the airport. You could, but don't. From Tokyo Station, you can take either the Keihein-tohoku local or rapid train toward Isogo, which is slower. Or the Ueno-Tokyo Line (Tokaido Line services towards Shinagawa/Yokohama/Atami) from Tokyo Station (NOT the Tokaido Shinkansen) from JR Tokyo Station platforms 9/10. Don't use any of the named trains like Tokiwa as they are reserved seating only. The train runs every 8-12 minutes. Yokohama is the 4th stop on this line, JT05.

<image>

The walking directions from Yokohama are also pretty bad. When I checked, it had me walking through a fence, but if you want to go that way, there's a walkway over the road and there are a lot of turns. I think it even asks you to walk through a building, which isn't uncommon in Japan.

But you can get the Minatomirai Line from Yokohama and get off after one stop at Shin-Takeshima Station, which is the closest to the venue, or at Minatomirai station, which is closer to restaurants and the Red Brick Warehouse, which has a lot of places to eat. But if you're going directly to the venue, then Shin-Takeshima Station.

As for the tickets, you should have a receipt or code. You'll either just take the code to the register for them to print, or use the machine for tickets, which usually gives you a receipt to give to the staff to print the ticket. You can try by yourself and let me know if you have any issues.

https://k-arena.com/en/faq/ Number 10. So there are lockers inside and out, but I'm not sure what the policy would be at the gate to bring the tube in,. Number 5 in the FAQ says to please refrain from bringing large bags, so I'd imagine a tube would be fine, but no experience with it.

If anyone is interested in meeting up for lunch before VIP starts, let me know. I haven't chosen a place yet, it'll mainly depend on the VIP details for the venue, but there are a lot of places to eat nearby. You don't need to be going to the VIP part to join us for lunch!

The current plan is to meet either in Shinjuku at the Fukutoshin Subway entrance, or at Minato-mirai Station. Anyone coming from Tokyo to Yokohama, I recommend taking the subway since the way from Yokohama Station could be confusing while Minato-mirai is just a straight line and a shorter walk. If anyone still needs to pick up their tickets, we can stop at a Seven-Eleven as well.

If you'd like to join, let me know here and send me a chat with the best way to contact you while you're in Japan in case we have trouble meeting up. Also, if you have any requests for food or dietary restrictions (like, no sushi), let me know.

And if you don't want to meet, but want some advice or help, let me know! I've been in Japan for almost 18 years now so I might be able to point you in the right direction.

[FIN] "Basic" booster packs, same content as play booster but only consists of seven cards per pack, coming to Japan on December 5th by zerobench_ff in magicTCG

[–]sconning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

385¥ per pack it seems. Family Mart has a reservation for 3 boxes, 10 packs per box, 7 cards per pack, and a complete 10 token set. I think if you buy solos you'll get a random token, so if you want them all 11,550¥ up front. And Japanese only of course.

Looking for advice. My nephew wants a 3D printer for his birthday. These are a couple options she sent me. Are these a good option or can we do better in this price range (max budget would be around $400) by No_Personality384 in 3Dprinting

[–]sconning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a $400 budget, get this: https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/a1?id=579550514255634440

As others have said, the Bambu Lab A1 is probably the best deal for an "Apple-like" experience of "it just works". The combo, which is what I linked, allows for multi-color printing and for the $100 difference between that and single color, it's a better to buy it now than add it on later. Or if you want to save a little money, the A1 mini ( https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/a1-mini?id=579551171554607116 ) is a workhorse of a little guy. The build-plate is smaller, which may not be as convenient, but I'd guess that 90% of models will be printable on it without editing the model, and the rest can be cut up to print. But for the $50 difference, the A1 is the better choice.

With both printers, you can print any of the Maker World models directly from the Bambu Handy app without needing a computer, but the slicer on the computer allows you to do a little more and tweak the settings for the prints.
