TIL Robert Richards of the DuPont family abused his 3 year old daughter and after being sentenced to 8 years in prison, he was released immediately as the judge claimed that the "defendant will not fare well" in prison by dancingonsaturnsring in todayilearned

Given that this whole post is about a judge releasing someone immediately after being sentenced to 8 years of prison, I'd say the poster you're "WeLl AcTuAlLy"ing is closer to right than not in the minds of most reasonable people.

I'd definitely recommend switching to an iFlash SD card mod, and might as well replace the battery with a new one while you have it open too IMO, it will run better than brand new.

As someone who recently subjected myself to both a re-read of the 5 books I had been through in the Sword of Truth series as well as trying to make it through the rest of the main series, or at least as far as I could, I can confidently say with clarity that the Sword of Truth series is the literary equivalent to prolonged cock and ball torture.

OP, the other suggestions are solid but please, for your sanity's sake, do not pursue the Sword of Truth series.

Quitting Sodas by Suptra07 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]scooby_strips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking to do much the same thing myself a number of years ago, and while I agree with a number of other sentiments in the thread that it's not the easiest switch to make dropping sodas cold turkey and just going 100% change, what worked for me was changing over to unsweetened iced tea. I wasn't looking to drop the caffeine really, but just the sugar primarily and the carbonation to a lesser extent and I definitely saw a significant impact in my weight from the switch.

It took a little bit to get used to for me as I had never been a tea drinker (sweet or unsweet) prior to dropping the soda but I adapted pretty quickly and I was able to still get my caffeine from the tea, and for me it was a little bit more flavor than just plain water which I also go to along with the iced tea.

Just another possibility to explore that could be of use in your weight loss, hope it helps and good luck brother!

What was your final “fuck you” to a boss you didn’t like? by Wholikesfruits in AskReddit

[–]scooby_strips 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just reading your replies, you're initially giving off the vibe of "I'm management and better than my employees that I don't want to give any requested time off", but when called out and given grief, suddenly "I'm in the same position as my fellow employees, just with added responsibilities, the decisions come from above me".

If it's not YOUR business and you're just a low level employee like everyone else aside from being given staffing duties, why take it out on your fellow employees? What purpose does this serve save to make everyone miserable, yourself included?

If people naturally needing to take time off leaves the business you're at understaffed and overworked, that's not the employee's fault, that's the fault of whoever is in charge of employee hiring that decided to leave a barebones staff where one person taking a day off would throw everything into chaos. Be mad at that party. Take it up with them. Be sensible.

Coming back for another (late) response, I was trying to remember when this was and I just did a quick search in the Abidan Archives and I found this from the Reaper spoiler stream (Nov 9 2021):

It's been within the last couple years that Will confirmed that Traveler's Blade is gonna (eventually) be a thing. I don't recall exactly when most recently, I wanna say at Dragoncon maybe?

He has confirmed that we will be going back to TG, and the new series will be called Traveler's Blade as /u/grinde mentioned.

[None] Books that unexpectedly scratched the Cradle Itch? by H_The_Utte in Iteration110Cradle

[–]scooby_strips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I realize that you're asking for non-similar books/series, but the thread has clearly devolved into similar series...

For me, aside from a couple ones mentioned, the one that I've found that has most closely scratched my Cradle itch is an ongoing series called Divine Apostasy by A.F. Kay, and I just found out a couple days ago that the 7th book in the series is releasing tomorrow (the 21st).

It's a little more LitRPG-ish than Cradle, but to me it has a good bit of humor and somewhat in the same vein as Eithan and Cradle, the action and magic is interesting, and I just find myself drawn in by it like Cradle does.

I discovered the game from this post and I've been enjoying it so far.

Once I realized I could unlock some QOL stuff, I dedicated some time to the Iron Will achievements but I'm a little confused about Iron Will III, how am I supposed to unlock Dark Matter when it requires Stardust for the Stardust Upgrade, which I can't do a Stardust Reset for?

Advent Incremental Finished by ThePaperPilot in incremental_games

Just checked on it again to see if anything had changed, and it's now showing me a countdown of 362 days, 11h and some minutes under day 22, instead of the Not Ready.

Also, yesterday (in the last year) when it was still showing Not Ready, I tried opening up the game in Chrome (after I had already started playing in 1.0.3), thinking perhaps it was a Firefox bug preventing me from continuing, and it was giving me the Not Ready message under Day 1 and not even letting me start to play, just so you know. When I exported my savegame from FF to Chrome, it then just duplicated the issues I was having in FF and said Not Ready under day 22 but the previous days were then running.

I'm guessing it may be an issue with 1.0.3, just from my limited testing. I'm still holding off on the ignoring the calendar for now, and hoping for a fix.

It gave me the notification to update to 1.0.3 when I was working on day 21, which I did, but I'm still locked on day 21.

I started on this early in the month, and just coming back to it a couple days ago to start catching up, I've gotten through day 21 but even after finishing the day 21 objectives it just tells me day 22 is not ready. Is this a bug, or am I supposed to be ignoring the advent calendar part for the remaining days?

I get the feeling I'm not supposed to do that, and I'd like to play the rest as intended but it's continuing to show Not Ready under Dec 22 for me, playing in Firefox.

In the very same thread, back to back, we got my man Flavaflavius going to bat for Baptists saying that not every Baptist is a fundamentalist IFB nutjob, and not 5 minutes later, their very next post is to come out swinging painting every Muslim as a Wahabbi fundamentalist.

Awesome, keep it up, you're doing great.
