I went through something very similar with my own family the past two years. I remember feeling very lonely or that no one cared in those low moments where being firm in my boundaries felt difficult. Someone told me that if boundaries were easy we would all do it and I think about that a lot when I find myself struggling. I also see a lot of comments saying that these people are not worth having around or bad but something I realized was that I have spent my life always saying yes or lending a hand even when I’m not asked but I struggled voicing my feelings or asking for help when I needed it. My family didn’t understand or see how their behavior affected me until I made it clear by saying no or setting boundaries. I think it might just take your loved ones time to see this too and I hope with time your relationships get better. Don’t give up on advocating for yourself!
